Edward Winder, son of Thomas Winder and Alicia Twigg born circa 1774 graduated Trinity
and was a solicitor of Belleview, Co Dublin and Fitzwilliam Street. He married Elizabeth
Coddington on 11 Apr 1798. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry Coddington of Dunleer,
near Drogheda, and Elizabeth Blacker. Edward’s Will was dated 1829. Elizabeth, a widow
died at Leeson Street on 29 Mar 1857.
1 Alicia Barbara Winder born circa 1802 died 11 Feb 1894 age 92 years at Carlisle
Terrace, Marlborough Road and was buried at Stillorgan.
2 Henry Monck Winder born circa 1803 took Holy orders. He married Lucy Singleton
on 24 May 1827 at St Georges. Lucy was the second daughter of John Singleton of
Armagh. Henry was the vicar of Killinkere, Co Cavan and died 14 Dec 1855 aged 52.
Lucy died 2 Sep 1878 aged 75.
3 Annie Martha Winder born circa 1811 died at Stillorgan on 9 Oct 1828 at Stillorgan.
4 Edward William Jackson Homan Winder second son born circa 1812 was admitted to
Kings Inns in 1830. He married Mary Ann Evans on 5 Mar 1856 at Monkstown Parish
Church. Mary was the third daughter Thomas Kelly Evans of Vesey Place and
Edward was living at 16 Upper Leeson Street. He was solicitor and a clerk of the
Ecclesiastical Commission and was a member of the Natural History Society. They
lived at Sydenham Terrace Dundrum in 1860, The Grove Cottage, Stillorgan from
1865 to 1873 and were in Tourville, Rathfarnham by 1879. Edward died at Tourville,
Rathfarnham on 20 Mar 1880. Mary Anne died in 26 Oct 1912 at Tourville aged 82.
1 Edward Henry Winder born 31 Dec 1856 at Victoria Place baptised at St
Stephen’s joined the RIC. He married Sophia Albina Franklin on 13 Jan 1881
at St Peter’s Church. Sophia was the daughter of Rev James Franklin of
Sandford. They were living at Dundrum in 1911 and Edward was District
Inspector. They had two children of whom only one survived to 1911. By
1912 they were in Bagnalstown.
1 Alicia Frances Maud Jane Winder born 22 Oct 1881 at 27 Hardwicke
Street and baptised in 1882 at Sandford.
2 Elizabeth Gervais (Bessie) Winder born 10 Aug 1858 died 14 Sep 1939 at
Tourville, Rathfarnham and was buried at St Brigid’s, Stillorgan.
3 Wilhelmina Winder, second daughter born 11 Jun 1860 at Sydenham Terrace,
baptised at Taney. She died 11 Nov 1875 Ormond Road, Rathmines and was
buried at Stillorgan.
4 Thomas Kelly Winder born 13 May 1862 at Sydenham Terrace baptised at
Taney. Thomas moved to England and Ruth Nest Manley in Southampton in
1891. Ruth died in 1912 and Thomas died at Southampton in 1947.
5 George Herbert Winder born 19 Oct 1868 at Stillorgan Park. He enlisted and
died 19 Nov 1887 at sea having fallen overboard.
6 Alan Campbell Winder born 24 Feb 1870 at Grove Cottage, Stillorgan
graduated Trinity in 1890. He enlisted with the Yorkshire Regiment in 1887
and bought himself out in 1895. He went to South Africa and joined the E
Squadron Rhodesian Regiment. He died from wounds on 13 Feb 1900 at
Gaberones.
7 Francis Arthur Winder born 16 Mar 1871 at Stillorgan Park baptised at
Stillorgan. He was educated at Benson’s school in Rathmines and at Trinity
College. He served with the RAMC during WW1. He was medical officer of a
POW Camp and Adolf Hitler was one of the prisoners. Dr Francis Winder MBE,
OBE died a bachelor at Hampstead, Glasnevin late of 170 Botanic Road
26 Jun 1954.
8 Percy Winder born 21 Mar 1873 at Grove Cottage baptised at Stillorgan
married Helen Annie (Naonie) Watt-Stott at Tullow Church on 29 Jul 1908.
Helen from Glasgow was the daughter of James Watt and was the adopted
daughter of William Perrin of Rocklands, Stillorgan. They were living at Park
Avenue Rathfarnham in 1911. Naonie died 16 Dec 1924 at age 51 in Cowper
Gardens, Rathmines. Percy was Assistant Secretary at the Scottish Amicable
Life Assurance Society and died 24 Aug 1950 at Park Drive, Ranelagh.

2 Helen Joan Winder born 13 Sep 1910 at Cowper Gardens.
3 Naonie Joyce Winder born 12 Nov 1912 at Cowper Gardens.
Percy secondly married Josephine Kavanagh in 1927 at Holyhead, Anglesey
and had further children.

and was buried at Stillorgan.
6 Jane Rachel Winder youngest daughter born circa 1814 died a spinster on 3 Nov 1887
