Francis Williamson born circa 1852 in Co Kildare was the son of James (or William*) Williamson, a
farmer. Francis was a coachman working for the Clements family at Ashfield Lodge and married
Mary Anne Martin on 1 Apr 1873 at Ashfield Parish Church. Mary Anne was resident at Ashfield
Lodge and the daughter of John Martin a carpenter. They moved to work at Killadoon House,
another of the Clement’s houses circa 1882. Marianne died 3 days after the birth of her son on
14 Mar 1888 at Killadoon, Celbridge aged 35.

2 Lucy Williamson born 7 Oct 1876 at Corballyquill, Ashfield Married Richard Jones in
1906 Llandilofawr, Carmarthenshire in Wales. Lucy died in 1907 at Wales.
1 Evelyn Frances Jones born 1906 in Wales living at Ashfield Lodge.
2 Margaret Jones born 1906 in Wales.
3 John Williamson eldest son born 13 Jul 1879 at Corballyquill, Ashfield. He enlisted in
the Royal Artillery and attained the rank of major. He was awarded the Military
Cross in 1918.
4 Mabel Annie Williamson born circa 1882 in Co Kildare attended the Collegiate School
in Celbridge. She married Robert Mayes on 29 Aug 1905 at Ashfield Parish church.
Robert was a famer and the son of John and Isabella Mayes. They moved to
Trummery, Moira in Antrim and they had three children in 1911.
5 Robert Williamson born 23 Jul 1884 at Killadoon, Celbridge joined the Navy in 1902.
He was an able seaman (210927) on the HM Paddle Minesweeper Ascot and went down
with the ship on 10 Nov 1918 aged 35. He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval
Memorial, Devon.
6 Edith Williamson born 14 Nov 1886 at Killadoon. In 1911 she was a housemaid at
Avonmore, Stillorgan working for the Crozier family.
7 Frank Williamson died 20 Mar 1888 at Killadoon, Celbridge aged 10 days.
Francis a widower secondly married Jane Wainwright on 25 May 1889 at Killadoon,
Celbridge. Jane was from Monaghan and the daughter of Luke Wainwright, a labourer.
They were living at Killadoon in 1901. They had moved back to Cootehill by 1905 and
their grandchildren, Evelyn Frances and Margaret Jones were living with them in 1911.
Francis died at Ashfield on 21 Dec 1939, his granddaughter Eveline Jones the informant.
Jane died on 29 Oct 1940 as Ashfield, her granddaughter Margaret Jones the informant.
8 Francis William Williamson youngest son born 25 Jan 1892 at Killadoon, Celbridge. He
went to London in September 1914 and enlisted with the King's Royal Rifle Corps No
4307. He was Killed in action, France on 14 Nov 1916. He is commemorated at Serre
Road Cemetery, Somme, France. His father received his medal in 1921.
9 Sarah Jane Williamson born 19 Jan 1899 at Killadoon, Celbridge died 24 Jan 1899.
*We believe the Francis’ father’s name is incorrect on the marriage register in 1889.
