1 James William Vokes Mackey was born 1819 in Limerick. He was living at Stephen’s Green
when he married Maryanne Sadlier Bruere, only daughter of William Sadlier Bruere of
Berwick in Northumberland at St Martin of the fields on 19 Oct 1852. Maryanne was the
grandniece of Sir John Pelly (Governor of the Bank of England and Governor of the Hudson
Bay Company). James of 69 Merrion square was a JP and tobacco merchant with premises
at Beresford Place and his county seat was Scribblestown House in Cabra from 1864 to
1868. He was on the vestry of Christ Church Cathedral, and he and his wife were frequent
visitors to the Viceregal Lodge, Dublin Castle and the Mansion House. He was a Town
Councillor and was nominated as Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1868 and 1869 but these
nominations were both rescinded due to his strong Unionist views in what was then a very
Catholic Corporation. He resigned in 1879. He was a High Sheriff for County Longford where
he held the bogs and lands Kilsallagh land and he also had land in Limerick. James died
15 Nov 1880 aged 64 leaving 14K in personal estate and his funeral service was held at
Christ Church Cathedral. Mary Ann died 23 Feb1891 at Aspen Lodge, Harrow on the Hill
and she was interred in the Mackey Vault at Mount Jerome with her husband.

2 Harriette Mackey, only daughter born 16 Sep 1854 at 96 St Stephen’s Green
married George Warner Wilson-Slator, JP at St Anne’s Church, Dublin on 4 Nov 1874
and moved to Longford. George died 1892. They had six children, two of whom died
as infants.
1 Marion Hariette Anabella Wilson-Slator born circa 1881 in Co Longford
married Sidney S Whittaker of the 7th Gurkha Rifles at Edgeworthstown
Church on 2 Jun 1909.
2 Henry Bevan Wilson-Slator born circa 1885 in County Longford.
3 Georgina Beatrice Wilson-Slator born circa 1887 in Co Longford.
4 Bertha Violetta Wilson-Slater.
3 Bruere Vokes Mackey born 13 Feb 1856 at 96 St Stephen’s Green was living at 69
Merrion Square when he married Elizabeth Catherine Baggs, daughter of Henry
Baggs of Short Castle, Mallow Co Cork at Christchurch Cathedral on 18 Aug 1881.
He put 69 Merrion Square up for sale in 1885 and was living at Kilmacud House. He
was Vicar’s churchwarden at Christ Church that same year. Bruere late of Carysfort
Lodge died 1 Nov 1891 aged 35 at Charlemont Private Hospital from typhoid fever
and was interred in the Mackey vault at Mt Jerome. Elizabeth secondly married
Col Thompson of Ballyfair House, Curragh Camp and Bushford Co Monaghan at
Marylebone Church London on 2 Nov 1892 and moved to Monaghan. Elizabeth
thirdly married Col Vivian Waldergrave Hall Graham. Vivian died in 1934 aged 72
and Elizabeth born circa 1862 in Cork died died January 1934 in Cheltenham.
1 Maud Mackey born Dublin circa 1883 married the Rev Edward Carlile Bigger
circa 1906. Edward became the Dean of Clogher and died in 1951. The
couple had three children.
2 Vera Mackey born Dublin born 14 May 1883 at 69 Merrion Square.
3 Elizabeth Kathleen Mackey born 17 August 1884 at 69 Merrion Square
became a governess and lived at Ranelagh. She married Felix McManus a
policeman stationed at Donnybrook at the Roman Catholic Holycross Chapel
in Ardoyne, Belfast on 22 Aug 1908. They were living in
4 William Graham Mackey born 3 Jun 1859 at 96 St Stephen’s Green mentioned in the
Will of his brother Bruere in 1891.
5 Edward Vokes Mackey born 5 Aug 1864 at Scribblestown House.
2 Edward Vokes Mackey born circa 1821. A tobacco merchant of Beresford Place, he died aged
42 at 96 St Stephens Green on 30 Sep 1862. His executor was his brother and only next of
kin, James.
