Rev Joseph Verschoyle, Rector of Ballina, second son of the Bishop of Killala married Catherine,
eldest daughter the late L H Jephson and niece of the Earl of Charleville and Lord Dunally in July 1827.
James the rector of Kilmoremoy parish died 24 Jan 1867 at Ardnaree Glebe.

2 James Lorenzo Verschoyle second surviving son born 12 Feb 1832. Ensign by purchase in
1851, Captain by purchase in 1857 in the 66 Regiment (Royal Berkshires) married Caroline
Elizabeth D'Assereto on 24 Feb 1868 at St Peter’s. Caroline born circa 1847 at Bordeaux was
the only child of Louis Charles Laurent di Serraville, the Marquis of D’Assereto and Caroline
Chamberlain Dickson of Vianilla in Spain. James retired in 1869, James late Army captain of
HM 66th Regiment died 25 Sep 1875 at Roebuck Hall from uremic poisoning and left 4K in
personal estate. He was buried at Taney Graveyard.

2 Robert Verschoyle born 30 Jun 1870 at Malaga died 1870.
3 Theodore Stuart Robert Verschoyle born 30 Dec 1871 at Malaga served with the 3rd
Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He married Emily Margaret Pierce McClellan on
27 Jun 1895 at Cirencester Parish Church. Emily was the daughter of J B McClellan,
Principal of the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. They lived at Cheltenham
before moving to Mountainey, Mountrath, Queen's County. Theodore was bankrupt
by 1909 and they were living at Whitefield, Lacka, Laois by 1911. Emily died at
Mountrath on 7 Feb 1938.
1 Brian Verschoyle born 1898 at Cirencester married Mary Jane Chambers on
11 May 1921 at Mountmellick. Brian was a farmer and horse breeder. Mary
was the daughter of Robert Chamber, a farmer of Killanure.
4 James Joseph Verschoyle born 22 May 1873 at Randalstown. He died 5 Jan 1894 while
trying to save the life of a skater who had fallen into the ice as Duchess Pond near
Stapledon late of The Firs, Downend near Bristol. His brother Theo, who also helped
with the rescue survived.
5 George Moutray Verschoyle born at Roebuck Hall on 15 March 1875. George was a stock
broker’s clerk and was living with his brother in 1901. George died at the Royal Victoria
Hospital, Bournemouth after a motor accident on 21 Sep 1909 late of Ballybunnion, Co
Kerry and Sydney Avenue, Blackrock and left 4K in personal estate.
Caroline secondly married Andrew Mulligan on 15 Jan 1877 at the Registrar’s Office, Dublin. Andrew
was a publisher of D’Olier Street and the son of Timothy Mulligan, who worked at the GPO. Caroline
and Andrew were sued for breach of promise by Thomas Knowles, a butcher and cattle dealer from
Thomas Street. He claimed damages as Caroline had promised to marry him, but instead married
Andrew Mulligan. He was awarded £200. Caroline and Andrew moved to Spain and were divorced in
1883.

Caroline thirdly married Mr Knight and fourthly married Patrick McCann.
3 Robert Verschoyle born 20 Aug 1835 married Gertrude Mary Walker and died in August 1816.
