Robert Travers a Barrister eldest son of Robert Augustus Travers JP of Timoleague, Cork married
Jenny Susan Millett eldest daughter of Damer Hunt Millett of Carrogowan, Mayo in 1877.
1 Robert David Travers born 04.07.1878 at 13 Eglinton Park, Dublin. Robert is recorded on
the 1901 Census in Manitoba, Canada.
Jenny died of Pneumonia in 1890 aged 36 years and Robert seondly married Laura Isabel Brown on
05.04.1893 at St Ann’s Church, Dublin. Laura Isabel Brown was the daughter of Major John Brown
of the 17th Lancers in 1893. Robert and Laura and their family were living at Janeville in 1901.
2 Lieutenant Spencer Robert Valentine Travers born 14.02.1894 at 14 Leeson Street, Dublin.
Spencer attended Bromsgrove Grammar School and enlisted with the Royal Munster Fusiliers.
He died on 09.08.1915 aged 21 years in Turkey and is remembered on the Helles Memorial at
Gallipoli.
3 2nd Lieutenant Arthur Stewart Travers born 21.10.1895 at 19 Leeson Park, Dublin. In 1911 was
attending Bromsgrove Grammar School. Arthur also enlisted with the Royal Munster Fusiliers.
Reports say that Arthur saw his brother Spenser killed and while he survived the war he never
recovered fully. Arthur married Mary Sullivan in 1935 in Bath and died on 16.03.1951 at
Winchester Hospital.
4 Alice Hope Travers born 03.05.1898 at 19 Leeson Park, Dublin. Alice was a boarder at
Southlands School in Harrow in 1911 and married James Alymer Beamish MD of Concamore,
Clonakilty son of Rev George Beamish on 01.01.1920 at the Parish Church, Timoleague. James
died on 06.09.1925 at Accra, British West Africa. Alice then married Lieutenant Commander John
Rodolf Perronet Thompson RN son of Major General Charles William Thompson of Trent
Meadows, Puddlestown, Dorset on 04.02.1932 at St Paul’s Church, Bath.
Laura died on 25.06.1906 aged 36 years at Lee, Kent and is buried at Timoleague.
Robert married thirdly Edith Morris Preston on 27.11.1909.
