John Seth born at Collessie in Fife son of James Seth worked at Blythswood Gardener's Bothy,
Renfrew, Renfrewshire. He married Anne Steward daughter of David Steward, a farmer from
Brechin and Betty Molison at St Michan’s Dublin on 23 Aug 1872. John was a gardener and
worked as a gardener for Henry Roe at Mount Anville Park from 1872 to 1876 winning
numerous awards. Anne died 7 Aug 1875 at Mount Anville Park and was buried at Taney
churchyard.
1 Christina Seth born 22 Jul 1873 at Mount Anville House worked as a draper assistant
before becoming a florist.
2 Mary Anne Seth born 29 Oct 1874 died before 1881.
John returned to Scotland after Anne’s death and worked as a florist manager at St Cuthbert's in
Edinburgh and lived at Springwell Place. He secondly married Helen Mitchell from Forfarshire.
John died 30 Nov 1911 and Helen died 13 Jan 1941, both were buried at Morningside.
3 Agnes Molison Seth born 21 Oct 1881 at Edinburgh.
4 Nellie Jane Mitchell Seth born circa 1884 in Edinburgh died 17 Nov 1908 and was buried at
Morningside.
5 John Mitchell Seth born circa 1885 became a florist died 30 Nov 1913 and was buried at
Morningside.
6 James Mitchell Seth born circa 1886 became a florist.
7 Frank Mitchell Seth born circa 1890 at Edinburgh.
8 David Seth born 10 Feb 1891 at Edinburgh joined the Royal Scots and fought in WW1 and
was killed in action on 21 Apr 1917.
