William Scott born circa 1871 son of John Scott. He was a MD and JP and lived at The
Bawn, Castletownbawn, Aughnacloy in Co Tyrone. He married Ann Atkinson (Nannie)
Crossle on 31 Jul 1860 at Newtownhamilton Church. Nannie was the eldest daughter of
the Rev Charles Crossle, rector of Newtown Hamilton. They had at least eleven children.
Nannie was a member of the Bawn Sabbath evening class and the YWCA. William died
5 Dec 1892 at Castletownbawn and was buried at Aughnacloy. Nannie died 10 Jun 1894
at 89 Haddington Road, Dublin and she was buried with her husband and daughter Isabel.

2 Charles Edward Scott born circa 1862 graduated Trinity and took Holy orders.
He married Katie Alice Smith at St Stephen’s Church on 17 Sep 1895. Katie was
the eldest daughter of William Smith of Wellington Road. Charles was Rector of
Carrigaline and later Rushbrooke, Co Cork.
3 Isabel Mary Scott born born 29 Nov 1863 at Augnacloy died on 3 Mar 1890 from
influenza.
4 Johanna Martha Elizabeth (Joan) Scott born 24 Jul 1865 at Aughnacloy. As eldest
surviving daughter she married George Cox on 4 Dec 1895 at St Stephen’s Church,
Dublin. George was the eldest son of William George Cox of North Great Georges
Street.
5 John William James Scott born 12 Oct 1866 at Aughnacloy. He was a doctor and
lived at Gortin House, Coalisland, Co Tyrone. He died 25 Sep 1925 in Surrey at the
residence of his brother. His remains were repatriated and he was buried at
Aughnacloy graveyard.
6 Henry Gordon Waller (Gordon) Scott 24 Sep 1868 at Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone. He
graduated Trinity College, took Holy orders and was rector of Clonfeacle, Benburb,
Co Tyrone. He married Tilly Evelyn Morgan Holmes on 6 Jun 1901 at St Stephen’s
Church, Dublin. They had at least five children, one of their twins died an infant.
Their son William emigrated to New Zealand and took Holy orders. Gordon died on
4 May 1951.
7 Walter Samuel Scott fifth son born 28 Feb 1870 at Aughnacloy. He graduated
Trinity and married Anne Sydney Smith on 1 Jul 1899 at St Stephen’s Church, Dublin.
Anne was the daughter of William Smith, a civil engineer from Ballybrack. Walter
was a barrister/tutor and they moved to Wimbledon, Surrey, after their marriage.
They were living in Holywell Park, Dundrum when their son married in 1937. In the
late 1930’s they moved to Selbourne in Hampshire and Walter published a book on
Gilbert White the naturalist in 1946. Walter died circa 1951.
1 Walter Sidney Scott only son born 2 Nov 1900 in Surrey attended St
Columba’s School in Rathfarnham. He took Holy orders and was ordained
in 1928. He married Margaret Jefferson Hogg at St Peter’s Church, Cranley
Gardens, London in Nov 1937. Margaret was the daughter of J E Jefferson
Hogg, OBE, DL of Elm Park Gardens. They lived in Selbourne, Hants and in
1950 Walter published the Antiquities of Selbourne. He was also involved in
the excavation of Selborne Augustinian Priory in the 1960’s.
8 Archibald Douglas Andrew (Douglas) Scott born 22 May 1871 at Aughnacloy, Co
Tyrone. He was educated at Wesley College and Trinity College, Dublin. He took
Holy orders and was ordained for the Curacy of Kilkeel in 1896, and appointed Rector
of Aghalee in 1906. He married Helen Marianne Barry Townsend on 30 Apr 1906 at
Armagh Cathedral. Helen was the daughter of Norman Lionel Townsend. Douglas
died on 23 Mar 1918 survived by his wife and three children.
9 Mary Waller Scott born 21 Jan 1873 at Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone was living with her
brother Gordon in 1901. She died a spinster on the 27 Oct 1903 and was buried at St
James‘s Church of Ireland graveyard in Aughnacloy.
10 James Crossle Scott youngest son born 3 May 1875 Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone. He was
a doctor and worked in Wimbledon, London. He died at Derrynoose Rectory, the
residence of the Archdeacon of Armagh on 15 Oct 1928.
11 Letitia Charlotte (Etta) Scott youngest daughter born 2 May 1878 at Aughnacloy
married Hugh Wesley Allen Watson on 13 Oct 1908 at Rangoon. Hugh was the eldest
son of Hugh Watson, a barrister of Beechpark, Lurgan, Co Down. Hugh was Deputy
Consr. Forests, Taunggyi, South Shan States, Burma. They had a son and daughter and
Hugh was knighted in 1931. Lady Watson died on 27 May 1951 at Bexhill-on-Sea and
Sir Hugh died on 25 May 1953.
