John Roche of Ballylegan, Glanworth, Co Cork. John was on the Board of Guardians of Fermoy
along with William Sisk. His father, also John Roche died at Glanworth on 18 Nov 1853 at the
age of 92. In 1870 he was Hon Sec to a committee to arrange a banquet at the ruins of
Glanworth Castle to welcome Canon Dilworth back from Rome.
1 John Roche eldest son born 2 May 1841 at Glanworth. He was called to the bar in 1872
and appointed a County Court Judge for County Down in 1894. He married Frances
(Fanny). He lived at 8 Upper Fitzwilliam Street and at Summerville Cross Avenue from
1896 to 1897. He died 23 Mar 1897 at St John of God late of Summerville on Cross
Avenue and was buried at Glasnevin. His library was sold later that year and he left 6K
in personal estate.
2 Francis E Roche second son baptised 29 Jun 1842 at Glanworth became a medical
doctor. He married Caroline Maria Josephine Pearson on 20 May 1886, in Brigham City,
Box Elder, Utah, United States. They had at least 14 children. Francis died at Ogden
Utah USA on 31 Jul 1909.
3 Katherine A (Kate) Roche married Robert Parker at Glanworth Chapel on 16 Jul 1868.
Robert was a shop keeper and the son of John Parker, an accountant.
4 Mary Ellen Roche, second daughter married Captain John Eugene Geary on 6 Oct 1870
at SS Peter and Pauls in Cork. John was a sea captain, a widow and the son of Eugene
Geary, a farmer.
5 Anne Roche youngest daughter born 31 Jul 1846 died at Ballylegan on 3 Jul 1865 aged
18.
6 Child Roche baptised 2 Dec 1847 at Glanworth.
7 James Joseph Roche born 14 Mar 1851.
