William Richardson born circa 1832 in Dundrum son of William Richardson*, a builder
of Dundrum (1796-1870) and his wife Mary Plunkett. William married Mary Smyth on
10 Jun 1856 at Booterstown. Mary was the daughter of Arthur Smyth and Mary Moran
from Rathfarnham. William was a builder and grocer of Dundrum from 1868, and he also
had a spirit licence. He built Pembroke Lodge and his monogram survives on one of the
houses he built (WR 1881 on Devaney's Off Licence). The Richardson were the builders
of the old Dundrum National Schools and they also built Ashgrove Terrace. William
died 19 Jul 1899 at Pembroke Lodge, Dundrum and left 2K in personal estate. Mary
was living at Pembroke Lodge with her son John in 1901. Mary died 8 Mar 1908 at
Pembroke Lodge, Dundrum.
1 John Paul Richardson born circa 1858, builder of Pembroke Lodge, Dundrum. John
Paul, a brick layer married Ellen Courtney on 8 Jun 1879 at St Laurence’s Church,
Kilmacud. Ellen was the daughter of Robert, Courtney, a bricklayer. John Paul, a
builder and stonemason tendered and was awarded numerous contacts for the
Rathdown Guardians, including road building, foundations and labourers cottages.
He died 29 Mar 1930 at Pembroke Lodge, Dundrum. Ellen died 1 Sep 1933 at
Pembroke Lodge.

2 John Robert Richardson born 22 Sep 1882 at Dundrum was a building
contractor. He died unmarried on 18 Oct 1954 at Pembroke Lodge,
Dundrum.
3 Mary (Molly) Richardson born 18 Aug 1884 at Dundrum. She married Frederick
(Fred) Lee on 11 Sep 1911 at Holy Cross Church, Dundrum. Frederick was a clerk
and the son of Thomas J Lee a salesman. Mary died on 12 Jul 1922 at 5
Dargle Road, Drumcondra.
1 Frederick Edward (Freddie) Lee born 27 Nov 1913 at Denmark Street
died 13 Feb 1914 at Prospect Square, Glasnevin.
2 Ferdinand Edmond (Ferdy) Lee born 30 May 1915 at Dargle Road,
Drumcondra. He joined the Free State Army as a cadet and was
commissioned in 1937. Captain Lee married Sheila Moloney at the Pro
Cathedral on 16 Jun 1942. The ceremony was conducted in Irish.
Sheila was the daughter of Michael Moloney, a clerk of works from
Martinstown, Kildare. In the 1960's Lieut Colonel Lee was liaison officer
at the UN Forces headquarters at Leopoldville in the Congo.
4 James Francis Richardson 17 Aug 1886 at Dundrum was building contractor
in 1911. James a carpenter married Mary Dowling on 25 Jan 1919 at
Kilmacud Church. Mary was living at 2 Pembroke Cottages, Dundrum and
was the daughter of James Dowling ex RIC. James, a widower died on
16 Sep 1961 at Loughlinstown Hospital late of 160 Lower Kilmacud Road.

5 Arthur Patrick Richardson 18 Oct 1888 at Pembroke Terrace, Dundrum was
a student. He died 15 Jul 1918 from influenza at Main Street, Dundrum.
6 Eileen Mary Richardson born 14 Jan 1891 at Ashgrove Terrace. She married
Frederick Lee, the widower of her sister Mary from Cabra Road on
16 Aug 1932 at Kilmacud Church. Frederick was a civil servant and the son
of Thomas J Lee, a commercial traveller. Fred died aged 70 at Clonliffe Road
on 21 Mar 1953. His son Ferdy the informant. Eileen died 3 Jul 1968 at
Pembroke Lodge, Dundrum. Her stepson Ferdy the informant.
7 Florence Richardson born 19 May 1893 at 3 Kilmacud Road, Dundrum. She
never married and died on 21 Oct 1968 at the Meath Hospital.
8 Michael Paul Richardson youngest son born 30 Aug 1895 at Main Street,
Dundrum. He was educated at St Mary’s College, Rathmines and played
rugby for the college. He enlisted on the outbreak of war and was a private
14784 with the "D" Company, 7th ("Pals") Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers.
He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 4 Sep 1915. He was buried near where
he fell and is remembered at Green Hill Cemetery in Turkey.
9 Charlotte Mary Richardson born 6 Aug 1897 at Dundrum. She married
George Charles Trousdell on 30 Mar 1932 at Kilmacud Church. Charles was
a farmer from Ward House, The ward, Co Dublin and the son of George
Trousdell, a farmer. Charlotte was deserted by her husband and died
4 Nov 1941 at Pembroke House, Dundrum. Her funeral mass was held at
Holy Cross Church and she was buried at Old Kilternan cemetery.
10 Irene Mary Richardson born 7 Dec 1899 at Main Street, Dundrum. She
married Michael Golden at Holy Cross Church, Dundrum on 21 Nov 1927.
Michael was a Garda living at Dundrum and the son of Michael Golden, a
farmer. Irene died 7 Jan 1947 at St Vincent's Hospital late of Ashgrove
Terrace, Dundrum.
11 Ethel Richardson born 14 Sep 1902 at Main Street, Dundrum baptised at
Holy Cross Church, Dundrum.
2 Arthur Richardson born circa 1859, builder of Pembroke Lodge, died unmarried
on 3 May 1908 at Pembroke Lodge.
