John Richards of Great Britain Street son of Thomas Richards was called to the Bar in 1750. He
married Mary daughter of George Lendrum of Mowfield, by licence on 24.12.1767.
1 John Richards married Elizabeth Saunders daughter of John Saunders of Saunders Park,
Wicklow circa 1798. John died 9 Dec 1844 at the home of his daughter Mrs Fitzgerald at
Cloghroe.
1 Melissina Livinia Richards married Joseph Capel Fitzgerald on 16.10.1820 at
Stillorgan Church. Joseph died of Typhus Fever on 20.02.1840 at Cloghroe, Cork.
Melesina then married Thomas D Keogh son of John Keogh of Lisalea, Dublin on
26.09.1848 at Inniscarra, Cork.
2 Helen Richards married John Hely Hutchinson Deane Grady in August 1827 at
Gretna Green. There was a court case regarding their marriage. John died August
1843 at Merrion Square and was buried in Stillorgan Graveyard.
3 John William Owen Richards of Elm Grove and Tempo, Fermanagh born circa 1810
married Susan Saunders eldest daughter of Richard Augustus Saunders DL of Largay,
Cavan on 11.06.1846 at Monkstown Church. They lived at Elm Grove until 1853 and
in 1855 they were living at Mount Street. Susan died in 1894 and John a Widower
and Land Agent died on 20.11.1906 aged 96 years at Barnagh, Belmullet, Mayo.
1 Daughter possibly Mary Anne Richards born 23.01.1848 at Elm Grove.
2 John Richard Harlowen Richards eldest son born 04.10.1849 at Elm Grove. He
was a Lieutenant with the 22nd Regiment and married Emily Anne Saunders
2nd surviving daughter of Edward Saunders of Ballinderry Park, Tipperary on
10.07.1875 at Ardcroney Church, Tipperary. John attained the rank of Major
and retired in 1897. They moved to Dunstaffnage in 1907. John was a church
warden of Stillorgan Parish Church in 1907 and remained on the Select Vestry
until 1915. He died on 30.08.1931 and was buried at Stillorgan. The villagers
carried his coffin to the graveyard. John left 10K in personal estate. Emily died
16.03.1938 aged 87 and was buried with her husband. The couple had no
children.
3 Melesina Susan Richards born circa 1850 married John Ribton Twiselton
Crampton son of Rev Cecil Crampton on 24.04.1869 at the Parish Church in
Monkstown. Melisina died on 28.12.1891 aged 41 years and John died on
11.11.1905 aged 83 years both at Termoncarra, Belmullet.
1 Gertrude Twisleton Crampton born 01.04.1870 at Lagmore.
4 Henry Julien Richards born circa 1852 married Caroline Knox Paget daughter
of James Paget on 12.04.1893 at Crossmolina, Mayo. Henry died 03.07.1919
aged 67 years and Caroline died on 02.02.1931 at Portobello Nursing Home.
1 Gladys Vera Susan Richards born 23.07.1895 at Knockglass.
2 Muriel Richards born 24.09.1896 at Knockglass.
3 John Henry Paget Richards born 02.03.1899 at Knockglass.
5 Edward Mainwaring Richards born circa 1853 at Elm Grove. He was a surveyor
and married Annabella Raines on 16.04.1888 daughter of Thomas Brayshaw
Raines at Belmullet. Edward died on 05.02.1898 at Stewarts Hospital,
Palmerstown aged 45 years.
