Samuel Rennix born circa 1853 son of James Rennix. He was a farmer resident at Grange in
Navan and married Mary Connor on 7 Apr 1874 at Girley Church Co Meath. Mary was the
daughter of Edward Connor, a herd. They had nine children of whom eight survived in 1911.
Samuel a coachman died at Elgin Lodge Bray on 11 Jan 1910 and was buried at Deansgrange.
Mary a widow was living with four of her children at Bray in 1911 and living at 7 Angelsea
Road in 1916. Mary died 19 Oct 1933 at 30 Hollybank Avenue, Ranelagh and was buried with
her husband.
1 James Rennix born 1 Oct 1876 at Navan Co Meath was a gardener working at Glenvar
on Cross Avenue. According to the Irish census of 1901 he was born in County Dublin
and on the marriage register he is the son of Samuel Rennix a coachman. James
married Elizabeth Anne Long on 6 Apr 1900 at Blackrock Methodist Church. Elizabeth
was the cook at Glenvar and the daughter of Samuel Long, a farmer. They identified
as Plymouth Brethren on the 1901 census. They emigrated in 1905 and their
destination was to Elizabeth’s uncle William Lockhart in Philadelphia and by 1910 they
were living at New Castle, Delaware PA. James applied for naturalization in 1916 giving
his birthplace as Navan. He was working as a florist in 1928.
1 Victor Edward Rennix born 23 Jan 1901 at Glenvar. He emigrated with his
parents in 1905. He applied for naturalization in 1916 and married Mary E
Anderson on 22 Jun 1926. Mary was the daughter of Thomas Anderson &
Minnie Clarke. Victor died in February 1978 at River Forest, Illinois.
2 Samuel Whittlecomb Rennix born 21 Jul 1902 in Navan Co Meath applied for
naturalization in 1916. He married Margaret Cameron on 18 Aug 1928 at
Philadelphia. Margaret was the daughter of William Cameron a carpenter
and Margaret Wilson. Samuel was a mail carrier. They had three children by
1940 and were living at Bala-Cynwyd, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
3 James C Rennix born 28 Jul 1906 in Philadelphia PA applied for naturalization
in 1916. He married May R Banfield on 8/6/1934 at Delaware County,
Pennsylvania and died in June 1977 at Wayne PA.
4 William Rennix born 9 May 1913 in Philadelphia.
2 Samuel Rennix born 25 Apr 1879 at Grange, Ardbraccan, Co Meath was a railway
clerk in 1911. Samuel married Mary and emigrated to Philadelphia in 1921.
3 Maria Louisa Rennix born 21 Jul 1881 at Ardbraccan, Navan, Co Meath. She married
James Allen Thompson on 7 May 1907 at the East Assembly Rooms Bray. James was
a gardener and the son of William Thompson, a gardener. They were living at
Oaklands Blackwell, North Bromsgrove, Worcestershire in 1911.
4 Edward George Rennix born 27 Nov 1882 at Ardbraccan, Co Meath married Mary
Willis from Dunmurry on 11 Sep 1907 at Drumbeg Parish Church. Patrick was working
as a gardener in 1911 at Dalguise House in Monkstown. They moved back to Dunmurry
and Edward was gardener at Beech Lawn. Edward enlisted with the Royal Irish Fusiliers.
He was killed in action on 13 Apr 1918 in Belgium.
5 Son Rennix born 6 Mar 1887 at Old Connaught, Bray.
6 Robert O’Connor Rennix fifth son born 25 Mar 1889 at Old Connaught Co Wicklow was a
railway clerk at the Head Office of the Dublin and South Eastern Railway Company at
Westland Row. He enlisted in 1915 and served with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He was
listed as missing and later declared killed in action on 1 Jul 1916. He is remembered at the
Thiepval Memorial.
7 Ernest Arthur Rennix born circa 20 Jun 1891 Wicklow was an accountant in 1911. He
married Lucy S Kidd in 1933 and they were living at Ridley Mill Old Ridley Garage, Stocksfield
in 1939.
8 Herbert Stuart Rennix born 7 Jun 1893 at Old Connaught, Bray, Co Wicklow was an
accountant in 1911. He married Eva M Massey at Holyhead in 1936 and died in 1969.
