John Quin son of Patrick Quin and Honora Byrne of Goatstown born circa 1823. John married
Esther O’Neill daughter of James O’Neil and Esther Harney of 1 Bolton Street, Dublin at Booterstown
Church on 5 Jun 1857. Witnesses: Catherine O’Neill and James O’Neill. James was a mason working
in Malahide in 1865 and in Drummartin in 1878. Esther was a widow in 1901. James died 1 Feb 1893
at Drummartin and Esther died 18 May 1920 at Drummartin. In 1922 the family commenced on an
extension but in ended up in a court battle both claiming ownership up part of a boundary wall. The
extension went ahead and Martin, Honor and Annie ended up in Mountjoy in 1924 for contempt of
court. After apologising to the court, they were released.
1 Honor Quin born circa 1862 Co Dublin living with her sister Esther in Dundrum village in 1901
and a dressmaker living with her mother in 1911.
2 Esther Quin born 3 Dec 1865 at Neilstown was a dressmaker all her life. She died a spinster at
Drummartin on 23 Sep 1945 aged 79.
3 John Quin born circa 1867 in County Dublin was a bricklayer in 1901 and 1911. John had a drink
problem and in 1906 was sent to St Patrick’s Home for Inebriates in Waterford for a year but in
1909 he was charged with drunkenness again and was fined.
4 Martin Quin born 13 Jan 1868 at Neilstown was a bricklayer in 1901 and a builder in 1911. He
put Drommartin Cottage up for let in 1941.
5 Joseph Quin born 18 Sep 1870 at Drummartin.
6 Christopher Quin born 25 Dec 1873 at Neilstown died 25 Apr 1881.
7 Anne (Annie) Quin born 17 Feb 1878 at Neilstown was a dressmaker in 1901.
