John Pollock of Maxwelton, Renfrewshire married Mary Read in Ireland in 1818. They lived at
112 Upper Leeson Street and 8 Kenilworth Square. Mary died 11 Nov 1866 at Kenilworth
Square and John died 22 June 1869 at 8 Kenilworth Square North. Both are buried at Mount
Jerome.

2 Mary Eliza Pollock, second daughter born circa 1820 died 5 Oct 1884 at 10 Sydney Avenue
Blackrock and was buried at Mount Jerome.
3 Isabella Pollock third daughter married Patrick Walters on 1 Jun 1843 at Liverpool. Patrick
was a Clerk of the Peace for the City of Kilkenny. Isabelle died at Kilkenny on 11 Oct 1861.
4 John Pollock, eldest son born circa 1827 married Anna Strettell Tuthill, youngest daughter
of William and Jane Scott of Knopogue Castle at Booterstown Church in August 1863. John
was a conducting agent and died at at his home Margaretta, Mount Anville on 19 Aug 1866
and Anna died 26 Aug 1922 aged 84. Both are buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Jane Pollock born 12 May 1864 at Margaretta, Dundrum died 22 Nov 1947 aged 84
and was buried at Mount Jerome.
2 Mary Pollock born 13 Mar 1866 at Mount Anville, Dundrum.
5 William James Pollock, second son born 10 Mar 1830 was educated at Trinity College Dublin
and was ordained. He married Angelina Krause only daughter of the Rev W Krause, chaplin
of the Bethseda, Dublin at St Mary's Church, Dublin on 23 Jan 1855. He was Rector of St
Saviours, Bath before becoming chaplin of the Bristol Blind Asylum. He retired in 1887 and
died 10 Nov 1919 at Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol leaving his estate to his two daugters as his
wife had already been provided for.
1 William Henry Krause Pollock born 21 Feb 1859 at Cheltenham. He was educated
at Clifton College. He studied for the medical profession in Dublin, Ireland from 1880
to 1882 , at which time he was a member of the Dublin Chess Club. He interned at Dr
Steeven's Hospital in Dublin and qualified as a licentiate of the Royal College of
Surgeons of Ireland. He was the Irish Chess champion in 1885 and 1886. He was
considered a Chess Master and won the 'brilliancy prize' for this dazzling victory over
world champion Max Weiss from Vienna in 1889 in America. He moved to Canada and
took part in tournaments world wide. In August 1896, William returned to England, but
the steamer was involved in an accident which delayed is journey by six weeks. He was
unmarried and died from TB at his father's home, 5 Berkley Square, Clifton, Bristol on
5 Oct 1896.
2 John Pollock joined the church and became Rector of St Gabriel's Swansea. He was
President of the Swansea Chess club but retired from chess in 1896 on the death
of his brother William. The Rev John died at Mentone on the Riviera on 4 Mar 1911
where he had gone on medical advice to recover his health.
6 Annie Pollock married Marcus John Bickerstaff at St Peter's Church Dublin on 16 Dec 1856.
Marcus was the son of Leonard Bickerstaff, barrister of Runnemede, Dundrum. They were
married by Annie's brother William.
7 James Ferrier Pollock was born circa 1832, in England, a physician of Avoca Villa. John was
living at 112 Upper Leeson Street when he graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons.
He married Honoria Hughes daughter of James Hughes and Martha Redfern of The Grove,
Stillorgan on 17 Jul 1867 at St Brigid's Church Stillorgan. James was Medical Officer of the
Stillorgan Dispensary from 1862 to 1866 before taking over as Medical Officer of
Blackrock Dispensary. James was church warden of Christchurch, Carysfort in 1898. The
couple had no children. James died at Avoca House 25 Aug 1915.
