James Martin Pike born 20 Jan 1778 at New Row to Wight Pike and his second wife Susanna Chaytor.
He was the grandson of Ebenezer Pike and Susanna Wight. He married Deborah Hill on 30 Mar 1802 at
the Friends Meeting House, Limerick. Deborah was the daughter of William Hill and Mary Richardson.
James and his family lived at Casino from 1803 to 1814 when he put his interest in the property up for
sale. His town address was 13 Bishop Street from 1805 to 1814. He was on the committee of the
Society for Promoting the Education of the Poor in 1821 and was living at 4 Gardiner’s Row. He was a
proprietor, director and treasurer of St Patrick’s Assurance company of Ireland in 1824 and a director
of The Mining Company of Ireland. He was secretary to the Society for the Improvement and
Encouragement of Servants in 1826 with offices as 3 Mercer Street and on a committee to relieve the
distress of The Liberty of Dublin. He was also on the Management committee of the Zoological Society
and a trustee of Simpson’s Hospital. James died 12 Apr 1835 Gardiner’s Row. Deborah died
15 Aug 1857 at 10 Charlemont Mall.

6 Wight Pike born 15 May 1810 at Taney. Wight was an ironmonger and went into partnership
with his brother William and the Perry Bros of Pill Lane in 1837. He married Catherine
Whittaker at St Mary’s on the Hill, Chester on 2 Sep 1853. Catherine was the daughter of
Frederic Whittaker. This was a clandestine marriage and was kept secret from his mother.
When it was discovered in 1856, he was disowned by the Quakers. Wight died at Longwood
Avenue, Dublin on 15 Nov 1876.
7 William Hill Pike born 16 Dec 1811 at Taney was an ironmonger and went into partnership
with his brother Wight and the Perry Bros of Pill Lane in 1837. By 1853 he was a General
Ironmonger and Iron Merchant of 25 and 26, Pill Lane at the rear of the Four Courts. He
married Lydia Roberts at the Friends Meeting House in Sycamore Avenue on 22 May 1855.
Lydia was the daughter of Samuel Roberts, a builder of Apian Way. William died 2 Oct 1895 at
Carlisle Ave, Marlborough Road formerly of Pill Lane. Lydia died 20 Jul 1905 aged 71 late of
10 Stella Terrace Donnybrook and was buried at Temple Hill.

7 Helen Margaret Pike born 1 Sep 1869 at 1 Greek Street. Helen married Ernest Henry
Bennis at the Friends Meeting House in Eustace Street on 7 Oct 1901. Ernest was the
son of Joseph F Bennis and was a grocer. Helen died at Limerick on 30 Oct 1925 and
Ernest died at Limerick 3 May 1956.

70 in May 1884.
9 James Pike born circa 1815 was a commercial traveller and Presbyterian chaplain to HM Forces
living at Blackrock. He married Anne Elizabeth Patterson on 9 Feb 1869 at Rutland Square
Presbyterian Church. Anne was the daughter of David Patterson, a farmer of Castle Shanahan,
Ramelton, Co Donegal. The lived at Strand Road, Merrion and James was involved with the
National Lifeboat Institution. James died at Annesley Park 20 Feb 1906. Anne died at the
Adelaide Hospital, late of Seapoint Terrace, Monkstown on 6 Feb 1922.
1 James Martin Pike born 4 Mar 1876 at 179 Strand Road, Merrion fought in the South
African war. He enlisted in 1914 and his family believed him to have been killed in action.

Ranelagh Dublin was buried at Temple Hill.
