William Pierce son of Andrew Pierce, Labourer and Margaret Priestly of Stillorgan. William was a post
carrier living at Grove Cottage, as was his brother Andrew. He married Ellen Bradley at Cabinteely RC
Church on 16 Jul 1902. Ellen was working as a domestic servant for Caroline Darley of The Grange at
the time of their marriage and was the daughter of James Bradley, farmer and Maria Devine of Murisk,
Co Mayo. William retired in 1930 as he was being overlooked for promotion and he was dissatisfied
with his job. He died at 1 Seapoint Avenue on 26 Mar 1930 and was buried at Deansgrange. Ellen
died 25 Jan 1953 and was buried with her husband.
1 Eileen Mary Pierce born 22 May 1903 at Kilmacud was a National School teacher and married
Edward Joseph Levins at Blackrock RC Church on 24 Jul 1935. William was a NS teacher living
at 31 Stoney Batter, Dublin and the son of John Levins, a merchant.
2 William James 29 January 1905 at Stillorgan married Muriel Margaret Matthew at St Columba’s
Church, Iona Road, Glasnevin on 6 Aug 1935. Muriel was the daughter if Henry Matthew and
was living at 13 High Holme Road, Louth, Lincolnshire at the time of her marriage.
3 Helen Pierce born at the Rotunda Hospital on 11 Feb 1909 died a spinster on 1 Sep 1971 at
Dun Angus, 1 Seapoint Avenue and was buried with her parents.
