William Perry of Woodrooffe, Clonmel, son of Samuel Perry married Ann Pedder,
daughter of Belcher Pedder in June 1764. He owned vast tracts of land which his
demised to his eldest two sons on his death. These lands were purchased by his
grandfather from Sir William Meredith. In his Will of 1791 he mentions bequests
to his wife, children, brother in law, his married sisters and brother. His cousins the
Clibborns and Jacksons are also mentioned.
1 Samuel Perry, eldest son married Deborah Prittie in 1791 daughter of Lord
Dunally. He was bequeathed the lands of Woodrooffe on the death of his father.
He was a Magistrate of the County of Tipperary, and died 5 May 1829 of gout
and Deborah died August 1829 at Woodrooffe of an ‘attack of the bowels’.
1 William Perry of Woodrooffe born circa 1792 was a JP & DL for
Tipperary married Mary Langley daughter of Major Langley of Brittas
Castle, Co Tipperary in October 1838 at Thurles Church. The family
holidayed in Cobh, Dunmore East and Kingstown. William died
13 Jul 1869 aged 76.
1 Samuel Perry born September 1839, only son joined the 12 Light
Dragoons in 1861. He married Mary De La Poer, daughter of
John Power at Christchurch, Lancaster Gate on 25 Jun 1867.
Her brother William de La Poer hosted the reception and they
honeymooned in Paris.

3 Mary Margaret Deborah Anne Perry only daughter, married
William Thomas Erskine Bookey, late Captain 6th Dragoons of
Derrybane, Co Wicklow and Grangebeg, Co Kildare at Monkstown
Church on 24 October 1867.
2 Catherine Perry married William Barton in 1815.
3 Henry Prittie Perry, second son took Holy orders and married Catherine
Burke daughter of Lord Bishop of Waterford and niece of the Earl of Mayo
on 8 Jun 1830 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin.
4 Anne Perry, second daughter married Matthew Villier Sankey of Coolmore,
Co Tipperary at Derrygrath Church in August 1830. The reception was held
at Woodrooffe.
5 Samuel Perry, third son living at Barona, Co Tipperary married Isabella
Thomasina Townsend, only daughter of Horatio Townsend of Middleton Co
Cork at Middleton on 20 in 1837.
6 Phoebe Maria Perry, youngest daughter married Samson T E French, Auskinny,
Co Cork on 12 Sep 1837 at the Woodrooffe Church.
2 John Perry, second son was bequeathed the lands of Newcastle and Rosmore died
10 Oct 1820 and was buried at Newcastle graveyard.
3 Phoebe Ann Perry was to be bequeathed 4k on attaining the age of 25 or on her marriage.
4 Richard Perry, son of William Perry of Woodrooffe and subsequently of Moderany Co
Tipperary married Anne Prim, eldest daughter of John Prim of Kilree, Co Kilkenny in
August 1810. He was bequeathed 7K on attaining the age of 25. He lived at Newtown
House at New Park from c1832. The couple were regular subscribers to the St
Catherine's Parochial fund and the Mendicity fund. Richard died 15 May 1839 at
Newtown House leaving personal estate of 28K and Anne died 12 Feb 1862 at Newtown
House aged 80. Both were buried at Kilkenny.
1 William Prim Perry, born circa 1811 at Kilkenny, graduated Trinity. He swore an oath
that he was known as William Prim Perry or William P Perry to avoid confusion with
his cousin William Perry of Woodrooffe. He married Susanna Ryan youngest daughter
of David Ryan of Castlecomber in 24 Sep 1839 at Castlecomber. He was discharged
from insolvency in 1840. William was a collector and dealer of Irish antiquities and
had dealings with Redmond Anthony, who was famous for his Bog Oak case of Gold
Antiquities and his museum in Piltown, Co Kilkenny. William was one of the first
subscribers to a fund, together with Dr Graves and George Petrie to help John
Underwood, a well known antiquities collector when he got into financial difficulty.
His income was derived from over 5000 acres in Newcastle, Clonmel. He also held
leases on the town of Stoneyford in the parish of Stonecarthy, Knocktopher having
about 80 tenants in the town He died at Newtown House on 29 Aug 1879 aged 68
leaving 6K in personal estate and Susanna died 6 Aug 1882 at Newtown House aged
69 leaving 8K in personal estate. Both are buried at Newcastle graveyard.
1 Anne Perry baptised at Crumlin 3 Mar 1841 died 23 Mar 1860 and was buried
at Newcastle graveyard, Co Tipperary.
2 Elizabeth Petty baptised 24 Jan 1843 died 7 Jan 1921 at Newtown House,
New Park and was buried with her parents.
2 John Perry born circa Kilkenny in 1813 lived at Newtown park from circa 1832. Like
his brother William, he was a collector of Irish antiquities and was one of the first
contributors to a fund to help John Underwood, the well known antiquities collector
when he was in financial difficulty. He married Jane Bagot, daughter of Edward Bagot
of Kildoon, Nurney, Co Kildare at Nurney Church. John died at Kildoon, Co Kildare
on 20 Aug 1883 aged 68, with his brother in law Christopher Bagot in attendance.
Jane died 26 Feb 1901 at St James’ Terrace, Clonskeagh. No issue found.
5 Arthur Perry bequeathed 6K by his father on attaining the age of 25.
6 Micajah Perry bequeathed 5K by his father on attaining the age of 25.
7 Dorcas bequeathed 4K by her father on attaining the age of 25 or on her marriage.
