Thomas Pepper of Ballygarth married Henrietta Moore at Sackville Street on 29.08.1772.
Henrietta was the eldest daughter of Richard Moore of Barn, Tipperary.
1 Lieut Col Thomas Pepper eldest son of the Royal Meath Militia born 12.10.1774
married Mary Louisa Hales eldest daughter of Rev William Hales on 17.02.1826 at St
Peter’s Church, Dublin. Thomas died on 09.10.1857 at Ballygarth Castle and was
succeeded by his brother. Mary Louisa died 09.05.1862.
2 Henrietta Pepper born circa 1774 at Julianstown.
3 Captain George Pepper born 15.09.1775 of Ballygarth. George died unmarried on
10.12.1860 aged 86 years at Mosney and was succeeded by his nephew Thomas St
George Pepper.
4 Anna Pepper born circa 1776 married Rev George Hamilton of Hampton Hall near
Balbriggan. George died on 09.08.1830 at the Glebe House, Killermogh, Queens County
having been 20 years Rector of that Parish and Anna died 08.02.1849 at Hampton Hall.
5 Richard Pepper born 12.05.1778. He was a major in the Meath Militia. Richard of
Stidalt Cottage, Meath married Margaret Aldwell 2nd daughter of Rev John Aldwell,
Rector of Newcastle, Tipperary on 30.01.1821 at Newcastle Church, Tipperary. The
marriage settlement of £4000 was to give her an income of £200 per year after her
husband's death. Between 1865 and 1870 they lived at Fort Lisle, Blackrock. Richard
died on 27.12.1871 aged 76 years at 29 Northumberland Avenue, Kingstown. He left
8K in personal estate: probate to his wife Margaret in Southsea. Margaret died at
Leamington Spa aged 84 on 20.07.1883. The Trust did not have sufficient funds to
provide the income and after her death Rev Alexander Aldwell Nicholson (her
executor) applied for the deficit out of the corpus of the fund. This was resisted by
her daughter. There is a memorial to Richard and the Pepper family at Julianstown
Church, Co Meath.

lunatic in 1871 and died unmarried on 29.10.1892 aged 70 years at Esker
House, Rathmines and is buried at Mount Jerome.
6 Col Henry Pepper born circa 1780 commanded the14th Bengal N I at the siege and
storming of Bhurtpore. Henry died unmarried on 04.03.1828.
7 Col Hercules Henry Pepper born circa 1781 commanded the 34th Madras NI and
served as Brigadier in Burma (now Myanmar). Hercules died unmarried on 25.07.1826
at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
8 Lieutenant Col Charles Hampden Pepper born circa 1783 at Ballygarth Castle
commanded the 27th Regiment. He served in Italy for 16 years. He married Matilda
Mary St George daughter of Arthur French St George of Tyrone House, Galway on
17.07.1834 at Kilcolgan Church, Galway. Charles died on 15.10.1848 aged 63 years and
Matilda died 19.08.1853 aged 46 years.
9 Charlotte Pepper born circa 1785 died unmarried on 05.06.1834.
10 Harriet Pepper born circa 1787 married James Lowry of Rochdale, Tyrone on 05.08.1808.
Harriet died 18.04.1834 at Fitzwilliam Place. James died on 14.06.1847 at Rockdale
House.
11 Rev Edward Pepper born circa 1789. Edward of Bannagh Glebe, Carlow married Elizabeth
Hales 2nd daughter of Rev William Hales on 18.10.1825 at St Peter’s, Dublin. Elizabeth
died 08.04.1860 and Edward married secondly Frances Mary Yeilding daughter of William
R Yeilding and widow of John Fitzgerald. Frances died on 05.04.1872 and Edward died on
10.05.1870 aged 80 years in Castledermot, Athy, Kildare.
12 Lieut Octavious Pepper born circa 1791 of the 28th Regiment died unmarried in 1835.
