Michael O’Donnell* married Mary Woodlocke on 08.09.1818 at St Catherine’s Meath Street. He
was a cotton and woollen wholesale merchant of 4 Upper Bridge Street and moved to larger
premises at 38 Bridge Street from 1817 until 1844. They lived at Clareville on Cross Avenue
from 1842 to 1855 but may have rented it for periods prior to that. The moved to 7 Bridge
Street in 1844 and in 1858 he sold off the stock of his warehouse and put the interest in the
lease of his premises at up for lease. Michael died 08.04.1864 and was buried at Glasnevin.
Mary died at 37 Leeson Street on 14.01.1878. Mary died on 14.01.1878 at 37 Leeson Street
and was buried at Glasnevin.

Jeremiah Dunn of Fitzwilliam Square JP, Lord Mayor elect, on 07.12.1847 at Roman

3 Thomas O’Donnell baptised 9 April 1822 at St Audeons. Of Kilballyhue Park, Carlow
married Kate Comerford eldest daughter of James Comerford of Ardavon, Rathdrum,
Wicklow on 25.11.1863 at the Roman Catholic Church, Rathdrum.
4 Francis O’Donnell baptised 26.10.1823 at St Audeon’s.
5 William Lewis O’Donnell eldest son born 15.07.1826 was called to the bar in 1847.
William of Rutland Square married Harriet Dyson relict of T Dyson of Abbey Dale and
Mill House near Sheffield on 01.09.1857 at Marylebone Church, London. William died
2.11.1866 in Grenada, West Indies, probate was to his brother James.
6 James O’Donnell a stockbroker of 37 Lower Leeson Street fl 1866.
7 Michael O’Donnell 3rd son born circa 1829 died of Typhus fever on 25.05.1849 aged
20 years at the Whitworth Hospital, North Brunswick Street where he had been a resident
medical pupil. He is buried at Glasnevin.
8 Edmund O’Donnell 4th son died 1850.
9 Ellen O’Donnell 3rd daughter married Bernard Owen Cogan of Lisconny House, Sligo
on 30.10.1848 at Roman Catholic Chapel, Booterstown. Witnesses: Michael O’Donnell
and Martin Cogan

2 Martin Waldron Cogan 3rd son baptised 01.10.1853 at Tawnagh, Sligo and died
26.03.1858 aged 4½ years at 37 Rutland Square West of Lisconney House,
Collooney, Sligo and is buried at Glasnevin.
3 Son born 20.10.1855 at Lisconney House.
10 Louis O’Donnell born circa 1840 of the Connaught Rangers died on 04.11.1899 aged 59
years at Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
11 Hubert O’Donnell died 24.08.1844 aged 6 months at Lower Bridge Street and is buried at
Glasnevin.
*Patrick O’Donnell born circa 1797 and died 16.08.1839 aged 42 years at Clareville, Blackrock and
is buried at Glasnevin & James O’Donnell born circa 1807 died 16.05.1842 aged 35 years at Lower
Bridge Street and is buried at Glasnevin. (These are possibly brothers to Michael).
