Thomas Neill, a carrier son of Patrick and Anne Neill married Mary Courtney daughter of Patrick
Courtney on 02.02.1887 at Kilmacud Chapel. Witnesses: Patrick Neill and Mary O’Donnell.
Thomas Neill a greengrocer died 12.01.1891 aged 46 years at Stillorgan and is buried at
Deansgrange. George Neil present at death.
1 Patrick Joseph Neill born 25 Aug 1889 at Stillorgan enlisted and served with the 8th
Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Private P J Neill no 22953 was killed in action on
6 Sep 1916. In his will he left his effects to his sister Miss A Neill, Northcote House,
Northcote Avenue, Kingstown. He is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial in France.
2 Anne Neill born circa 1890 was working as a servant for her uncle Michael Courtney in
Northcote Avenue in 1911. She died unmarried on 13 May 1959 at St Michael's Hospital
late of Northcote Avenue and was buried with her mother and stepfather at Deansgrange.
Mary Neill nee Courtney secondly married Michael Neill, a labourer son of George Neill on
08.06.1897 at Kilmacud Chapel. Witnesses: Malachy Byrne and Julia Robinson. Only her children
from her second family were living with her in 1901 and 1911. Michael died aged 63 on
08.12.1934 and was buried at Deansgrange. Mary died 01.05.1936 at Dublin Road, Stillorgan and
was buried with her second husband.
