Michael Murphy, born circa 1854 in Stillorgan son of Thomas Murphy married Mary Farrell, daughter
of William Farrell at Kilmacud Chapel on 5 Sep 1886. Both were living at Stillorgan at the time of their
marriage and Julia Robinson and John Greman acted as Witnesses. The family were living in Stillorgan
in 1901 and Michael was a general labourer and Mary was working as a char woman. In 1911 they
were living on the Kilmacud Road close to Garnaville, both still working. Michael died 21 May 1933 at
Sweerbriar Lane and was buried at Deansgrange. Mary died at Redesdale Cottage, Sweetbriar Lane
on 17 Feb 1934 and was buried at Deansgrange with her husband.

Mary married Patrick Hickey from County Wexford at Holy Cross Church, Dundrum on
13 Nov 1912. Patrick was a farm labourer and Dairyman, working for Blaney Hamilton at
Lakelands and son of John Hickey, a tailor. Patrick from Kilmacud Road died from
pneumonia on 12 Jul 1919 at Loughlinstown Workhouse aged 36 and was buried at
Deansgrange. Mary died at 2 Sweetbriar Lane aged 94 in 1984 and was buried with her
husband and son Thomas at Deansgrange.
2 John Patrick Hickey born 28 Jan 1913 at Sweet-briar Lane. He was living at
Redesdale cottage and working as a van driver when he married Joan Elizabeth
Keely at Balally R C Church on 21 Jun 1935. Joan was the daughter of Michael Keely,
a van driver from Balally.
3 Michael Hickey born 23 Apr 1914 at Redesdale, Stillorgan living at Goatstown in
1934. He was working as a waiter when he married Anne (Annie) Whyte at St
Michael's Church, Dun Laoghaire on 27 Jun 1937. Annie was living at 39 Cross
Avenue and was the daughter of Richard Whyte.
4 Patrick Joseph Hickey born 10 Mar 1915 at Redesdale, Stillorgan married Mary
Honor (Nora) Coughlan at Holy Cross Church Dundrum on 3 May 1937. Nora was
the daughter of David Couglan, she was living at Ballinteer Cottages and worked in a
laundry at the time of her marriage. Patrick was living at Sweetbriar lane and
Michael Hickey and Annie Whyte were their witnesses.
5 Julia Ann Hickey born 12 May 1918 at Redesdale, Stillorgan. Julia was living at
Sweetbriar Lane when she married Michael Malone, a stonecutter from Balally at
Kilmacud Church on 15 Feb 1938. Michael was the son of James Malone, a
stonecutter.
6 Thomas Hickey born posthumously on 22 Oct 1919 at Kilmacud, his grandmother was
present at the birth, died 23 Mar 1920 at Kilmacud.
3 Jane Murphy born 1 Apr 1894 at Stillorgan was working as a servant and living at Stillorgan
in 1911.
4 Michael Murphy born 25 Oct 1895 at Stillorgan was working as a shop boy and living at
