John Morris born circa 1837 son of Francis Morris thought to be the brother of Robert
Trim Morris of Rathpierce, and Francis Morris of Ballinacarrig who drowned in 1871.
He was a farmer living at Mullawn, Kilanerin near Gorey and he married Mary
Catherine Roark on 19 Jan 1882 at St Peter’s Dublin. Witnesses: Marion Morris and
Harry H Moore. Mary was resident at York Street and the daughter of John Roark a
farmer. They lived at Mullawn initially and moved to Rathpierce House, Inch, Co
Wexford a few years after they married. They had three children of whom two
survived in 1911. After refusing to join the Land League, losing all his workers and
servants, plus unable to sell his cattle locally, he sold the farm in 1892 and retired to
Saundersville, Baltinglass. He died 12 Nov 1915 at Saundersville. Mary died at 4
Ulster Terrace on 10 Jul 1933 and she was buried at St Brigid’s, Stillorgan.
1 Francis John Morris born 7 Apr 1884 at Mullawn graduated Trinity, studied
medicine and set up practice at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. He also worked at
the Victoria Hospital, Worksop. He enlisted in 1914 and obtained a
commission in the RAMC. He was posted to Newcastle on Tyne military
hospital initially but was then appointed to the staff of No 16 General Hospital,
British Expeditionary Force and left for the front in March 1915. He died a
bachelor 12 Oct 1949 at Hume Street Nursing Home late of 4 Ulster Terrace
late of 4 Ulster Terrace. He was buried with his mother in Stillorgan.
2 Elizabeth Morris only daughter born 22 Jan 1883 at Mullawn. She died a
spinster on 23 Oct 1957 at 12 Booterstown Avenue late of 4 Ulster Terrace and
was buried with her mother and brother in Stillorgan.
3 Edward Morris born 3 Jul 1886 at Rathpierce died 16 Mar 1892 at Rathpierce.
