Edward McGuirk born circa 1849 son of Richard McGuirk, a labourer married Mary Anne Davis,
daughter of Richard Davis at Booterstown RC Church on 17 Oct 1871. Both were living in Blackrock
and Maryanne was a servant and Edward was a labourer. They had twelve children of whom eight
were still alive in 1911. The lived in various houses at Sweetman’s Avenue, Blackrock.
Mary Anne died 25 Jun 1912 at 3 Victoria Buildings, Blackrock and was buried at Deansgrange,
Edward was living at 2 Smith's Cottages with his daughter in 1915. He died 23 Jun 1922 at 40
Sweetman's Avenue and was buried with his wife.

3 Bridget McGuirk born 9 Jun 1875 Sweetman’s Avenue, Blackrock, witness to her sister
Jane’s wedding in 1899 was unmarried in 1911 and working as a laundress. She died
16 Jun 1959 at 43 George’s Avenue and was buried with her niece Julia at Deansgrange.
4 Jane McGuirk born 4 Dec 1876 at Sweetman’s Avenue married Andrew Gill, a widower, and
son of Patrick Gill, a labourer on 15 Jan 1899 at Booterstown Church. Jane was a servant
living at Kenny’s Court and Andrew was a gardener living at Forde’s Court at the time of
their marriage.
5 Michael McGuirk born 1 Feb 1879 at Sweetman’s Avenue was a witness to his sister Jane’s
wedding in 1899. He married Kate Connor, daughter of Michael Connor, a labourer.
Michael was living at 3 Kenny’s cottages and Kate was living at 3 Sweetman’s Avenue at the
time of their marriage. They moved to Kingstown and had at least 4 children.
6 Richard McGuirk born 6 Nov 1880 died 18 Nov 1880 at Sweetman’s Avenue.
7 Eliza (Elizbeth) McGuirk born 27 Sep 1881 at Sweetman’s Avenue was a servant in 1901.
She married James White, a hall porter and son of John White, a labourer at Booterstown
Church on 16 June 1907. Eliza was living at 4 Kenny’s Court, Sweetman’s Avenue and James
was living at 5 Farrelly’s Court, Carysfort Avenue at the time of their marriage. They were
living at Smith’s Cottages in Blackrock in 1911.
8 George McGuirk born 19 Feb 1884 at Sweetman’s Avenue married Mary Ellen Robinson
daughter of James Robinson. George was a labourer of 4 Kenny’s Court, Blackrock at
Kilmacud Church on 19 Nov 1905. They lived on Kilmacud Road in 1911. Mary Ellen died
29 July 29 July 1960 at Churchview cottage, Glenalbyn Road and was buried at Deansgrange
with her daughter Julia. George died 9 May 1965 at Churchview Cottage, Glenalbyn Road and
was buried with his wife. His nephew William, brought up as their son lived at the house
after his death.
1 William McGuirk born 18 Apr 1908 at Stillorgan died at Neilstown from TB on
28 Nov 1912.
2 Julia McGuirk born 5 Aug 1910 at Stillorgan died 1 Sep 1932 at The Cottages Stillorgan
and was buried at Deansgrange.
3 Ellen McGuirk born 21 Dec 1911 at Neilstown died 21 Dec 1911 at Neilstown.
4 Edward McGuirk born 20 Apr 1913 at Neilstown.
5 George McGuirk born 23 Mar 1920 at Stillorgan Cottages.
9 Richard McGuirk born 23 Jan 1886 at Sweetman’s Avenue was living with his mother at Kenny’s
Court and working as a gardener in 1911.
10 William McGuirk born 10 Dec 1887 at George’s Avenue.
11 Edward McGuirk born 8 Apr 1889 at George’s Avenue was living with his mother at Kenny’s
Court and working as a gardener in 1911. He joined the Royal Dublin Fusilliers and was killed
in action on 12 Apr 1915. He is buried at Ration Farm (La Plus Douve) Annexe in Belgium.
12 Maryanne McGuirk born 16 Feb 1871 at George’s Avenue, Blackrock married John Whyte son of
John Whyte, a labourer on 24 Apr 1910 at Booterstown RC Church. John was living at 2 Smith’s
Cottages, Temple Road, Blackrock and Mary was living at 5 Kenny’s court at the time of their
marriage. In 1911 they were living at Sweetman’s Avenue.
