Martins of Priory Lodge
1 Thomas Martin born circa 1822. He had Priory Lodge on Avoca Avenue built in 1864 by
William Fogerty, architect. He was a shareholder in the Waterford and Limerick Railway
Company and was part of the committee of investigation into it's governance by the
directors. He died a bachelor at Priory Lodge 16 Dec 1888 aged 66. John Scully, barrister
of 10 Glenart avenue was the informant and also managed the funeral arrangements. His
death was incorrectly registered as Thomas Scully and later amended. He left 32K in
personal estate and Darby Scully (a bachelor) of Silverfort, Fethard was one of the
executors. He was buried at Deansgrange.
2 Anne Martin born circa 1819 died a spinster 30 Dec 1899 aged 80 at Priory Lodge and was
buried with her brother at Deansgrange. The informant John Scully 'occupier' of Priory
Lodge.
At this time the relationship between the Scullys and the Martins is not understood.
