Thomas Malcomson, son of Joseph and Rachel Malcomson married Anne Bell daughter of
Abraham and Mary Bell in 1793.

11 John Malcomson born 08.02.1810 was a cotton and shipping merchant. John married
Jane Bruce Davis in Mobile, Alabama on 08.09.1845 and they lived at Windsor Forest,
Alabama. Jane was originally from South Carolina and they were still living in Alabama in
1860. John is also listed as an owner of slaves in the 1850 Slave Schedule. In 1864 he
took delivery of his new vessel The Portlaw to commence trade in Bombay. This was to
replace his ship named Windsor Forrest which had caught fire at sea earlier in the year.
Jane was on the committee of The Great Southern Bazaar held in Liverpool in 1864. This
was a fundraiser in aid of Confederate prisoners of war, sick and wounded. The sale was
a huge success and raised £20,400. Jane died on 13.11.1868 in Nice, France late of 31
Catherine Street, Liverpool. John leased Lonsdale, Blackrock from 1873.
1 David Malcomson born 08.09.1861 of 109 Parliament Terrace, Liverpool baptised
at St Bride’s Church, Liverpool came of age 08.09.1882. David of the Kings Own
Yorkshire Light Infantry of the Barracks, Pontefract married Edith Hopwood
daughter of Joseph William Hopwood of Brigate, Brighouse on 03.08.1897 at the
Parish Church, Brighouse. David died suddenly on 27.09.1911 aged 49 years at
Bank House, Hartlepool and is buried at Brighouse Cemetery.
A Helen G Davis the adopted daughter of John Malcomson married F Cecil Bonet
of Liverpool on 15 Oct 1868 at the chapel of the British Embassy in Paris.
John married secondly Elizabeth Rose Foster daughter of Commander Henry Foster Royal
Navy of Burdett Avenue, Kingstown on 09.01.1878 at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin.
Witnesses Henry William Treffrey and Joseph Rowland Sutcliff. John died suddenly on
30.05.1879 aged 69 years at the Langham Hotel, London late of Mobile, Alabama, and
Lonsdale, Blackrock, Dublin. He left 30K in personal estate which included money from
his first wife’s estate. He died intestate and as his son was a minor, probate ended up
the Court of Chancery.
Elizabeth Rose Malcomson nee Foster married secondly Michael Peter Greene eldest
son of Michael Greene of Tipperary on 20.12.1894 at the Sardinia Church, Lincoln’s Inn
Fields, London. Elizabeth died on 24.12.1904 aged 48 years at 5 Prince of Wales Terrace,
Bray, Co Wicklow and is buried at Deansgrange. She left personal estate of 6K.
