John Joseph Mainwaring (Mannering) born circa 1861 in Wicklow son of Thomas and Frances
Mainwaring. He married Mary Doyle at Booterstown RC Church on 10 Feb 1878. John was a farm
labourer and Mary, a servant was the daughter of John Doyle, a labourer and his wife, Julia from
Newtown Park. Both John and Mary were resident at Newtown Park. They had 8 children of whom
six survived to 1911. Mary’s Nephew John Doyle, a messenger was staying with them in 1911. John
and Mary separated and John went to live with his daughter Frances. He died at Salthill, late of
Annaville Avenue, Newtown Park having been struck by a train on 25 Oct 1915. The coroner
attached no blame to the railway company. Mary died 6 Nov 1918 at Newtown Park. Both were
buried at Deansgrange.
1 Frances Mainwaring born 25 Aug 1879 at Newtown Park married Thomas Deegan at
Booterstown RC Church on 12 Feb 1899. Frances was a servant and Thomas was a coal
porter. He was resident at Kill O’ the Grange and the son of Thomas Deegan, a coal porter.
In 1911 they were living at Newtown Park and Thomas was a carter for the gas company.
Frances died 13 Feb 1947 at Loughlinstown Hospital late of 62 St Fintan’s Villas, Deansgrange
and Thomas died 9 Jul 1951 at Deansgrange. Both we were buried at Deansgrange.

16 Dec 1904 at Annaville Ave, Newtown Park and was buried at Deansgrange.
2 John Thomas Deegan born 7 Nov 1902 at Newtown Park died 16 Dec 1904 at
Newtown Park and was buried at Deansgrange.
3 Eileen Mary (Nellie) Deegan born 28 May 1905 at Newtown Park married
Eugene Flynn 14 Jun 1925 at St John the Baptist Church, Blackrock. Eugene was
a gardener and the son of John Flynn, a railway worker.
4 Thomas Deegan born 12 Mar 1908 died a bachelor on 26 Apr 1938 at 62 New
Cottages, Deansgrange and was buried in Deansgrange.
5 Richard Deegan 5 Aug 1912 at Newtown Park died from Influenza on 4 Mar 1919
at Newtown Park and was buried at Deansgrange.
6 John Deegan born 6 Jan 1916 at Newtown Park was a cab driver. He married
Katherine Doyle on 25 Jun 1939 at Monkstown RC Church. Katherine was the
daughter of Michael Doyle.
7 Francis Deegan born 9 Jan 1920 at Newtown Park was a labourer. He married Julia
Whelan at Cabinteeley Church on 18 Jan 1920. Julia was a widowed char woman and
the daughter of John White.
2 Mary (Maria) Mainwaring born 21 Mar 1881 at Newtown Park working as a servant at
Abilene for Richard Carey. Mary married Herbert Barron on 21 April 1924 at Blackrock
R C Church. Herbert was a gas man from Manchester.
3 Thomas Mainwaring died 25 Nov 1884 at Newtown Park aged 1 and was buried at
Deansgrange.
4 Elizabeth (Lizzie) Mainwaring born 27 Jul 1885 at Newtown Park was a general servant living
with her parents in 1901 and was working as a laundress in 1911. Lizzie married Michael
McGrath of 7 Salt Hill Place at Blackrock RC Church on 1 Apr 1918. Michael was a signal man
and the son of John McGrath, a store keeper.
5 Ellen Mainwaring born circa 1889 was working as a laundress in 1911.
6 Susan Mainwaring born 18 Feb 1890 at Newtown Park married Martin Halligan on 8 Sep 1919
at Blackrock RC Church. Susan was working in a hosiery factory and John was a soldier staying
at the Military Hospital in Blackrock, son of Henry Halligan.
7 Christina Mainwaring born 27 Nov 1892 at Orchard Lane, Newtown Park died 30 Jul 1893 and
was buried at Deansgrange.
8 Annie Christina (Christina) Mainwaring born 1 Dec 1894 at Newtown Park was working as a
laundress in 1911. She married William Smith of Newtown Park on 4 Aug 1918 at Blackrock RC
Church. William was a van driver living at Annavillle Avenue, Newtown Park and the son of
William Smith.
