John Mahony son of John Watson Mahony born circa 1837. He was a surgeon based at
Ballyduff, Lismore, Co Waterford in 1858. John Mahony a medical doctor married Sarah
Jane Stenson of Haddington Road on 9 Nov 1858 at St Peter’s Parish Church, Dublin. Sarah
was the daughter of the Rev John Ormsby Stenson of Athea, Limerick and his first wife
Amelia Hogg. John was appointed medical officer to the Cappoquin Dispensary in 1861. He
died from fever caught in the discharge of his public duty on 24 May 1864 aged 27.

Cappoquin. Constance married Rev James Lapelletrie Jesson on 10 Oct 1889 at St
Bartholomew’s, Clyde Road. James was the son of Henry Fox Jesson and Jane
Lepelletrie.
1 James Mahony Jesson born 23 Jul 1890 at Farmleigh, Stillorgan married Janet
Evelyn Vaughan White. James died 19 Oct 1954 at Vancouver.

2 Constance Jesson born 14 Jun 1896 at Farmleigh, Stillorgan died aged 22 on
13 Jan 1919 at Rathangan Rectory.
Sarah Jane secondly married Walker Mahony on 5 Oct 1869 at St Peter’s Parish Church. Both
gave their address as Wilton Lodge, Rathgar Road and Walker was the youngest son of Alderman
Dennis FitzGerald Mahony of Tontine Street, Limerick and his wife Sarah Watson. Walker was a
late captain in the City of Limerick Artillery and died aged 48 at St John’s, Dalkey on 21 Jun 1880.
Sarah lived at Farmleigh with her daughter Constance Jesson after the death of her husband
until 1900. By 1911 she was living at Newtown Avenue, Blackrock and was living on a fruit and
poultry farmer annuity.
