Daniel Maher son of Philip and Margaret Maher baptised at St Andrew’s Westland Row on
27 Mar 1957. His father was a porter and died in 1909. Daniel was living at 14 Verschoyle
Place and married Winifred Carton on 7 Feb 1886 at St Andrew’s, Westland Row. Winifred
was living at 5 Verschoyle Place and was the daughter of Owen and Anastatia Carton. Daniel
was a van driver and Winifred was a shopkeeper. They had nine children of whom seven
survived in 1911. All their children were baptised at St Andrew’s. Winifred died a widow on
13 Feb 1947 at Crumlin.
1 Christina Maher born 21 Dec 1888 was a dressmaker in 1911. She married Patrick
Doolin on 22 Jun 1913 at St Andrews. Patrick of Wentworth place was a bread van
driver and the son of James Doolin. They were living at Stella Gardens in 1922 and
Patrick who took part in the 1916 Rising was with the Army Medical Corps at the
Curragh camp. Patrick died at St Bricin’s Hospital late of Crumlin on 9 Jan 1936.

3 James Doolin born 2 Nov 1916 at Lower Pembroke Street.

5 Daniel Thomas Doolin born 8 Oct 1920 at Stella Gardens.
6 Leo Doolin born 1921 in Dublin.
2 Owen Maher born 29 Dec 1890 at 84 Merrion Square was a soldier by 1911 and
served with the 12th Royal Lancers. He married Sarah Byrne on 9 Sep 1918 at St
Andrew’s Westland Row. Sarah was the daughter of the late Henry Byrne. Owen was
with the Machine Gun Corps and was based in Portobello Barracks in 1922. Owen
worked as a gardener labourer and they were living at Rosemount lodge in 1937
when their son Harry died. They were living at Elgin Road in 1939. It is thought that
the family moved to England and Owen died there in 1968.
1 Henry Maher born 21 Sep 1920 at the Rotunda Hospital parents living 78
Lower Leeson Street. Henry died at Sir Patrick Duns on 2 Jan 1937 late of
Rosemount Lodge, Booterstown. He was a gardener and was buried at
Glasnevin. Twelve years later there were still memoriam notices placed in
Dublin newspapers by his mother, father and sister.
2 Daughter Maher born 30 Sep 1922 at the Rotunda Hospital, parents living
78 Lower Leeson Street.
3 Daniel Maher born 26 Dec 1892 at Lower Fitzwilliam Street was a messenger in 1911.
Daniel died a bachelor at Mercers hospital on 9 Apr 1939 late of Pembroke Street.
His brother Owen the informant.
4 Thomas Maher born 9 Jan 1895 at Lower Fitzwilliam Street was a messenger in 1911.
He enlisted and died at Gallipoli on 27 Nov 1915. He is remembered at Hill 10
Cemetery, in Turkey.
5 Anastatia Maher born 19 Feb 1896 at Upper Fitzwilliam Street. She married Joseph
Delahoyd on 15 Sep 1919 at St Andrews Church, Westland Row. Joseph was a clerk
resident at Richmond Street and the son of Peter Delahoyd, a carter. Anastatia died
28 Mar 1927 at Mercers Hospital late of Townsend Street.
1 Oliver (Peter Oliver) Delahoyd born at the Rotunda on 15 Jul 1920. He moved
to England circa 1940 and worked at the Felstead Sugar factory. He was found
dead on a road near the factory in 1944.
2 Sheila Patricia Delahoyd born 6 December 1921 at Charlemont Place married
Henry Young 1 Aug 1942 at St Andrew’s Church. Henry was an upholsterer
and the son of Patrick Young an upholsterer. Sheila’s bridesmaid was Lilly
Delahoyde.
Joseph secondly married Johanna (Nan) Byrne in 1930.
6 Philip Joseph Maher born 21 August 1899 at 3 Lad Lane. He married Sarah Josephine
Kelly on 7 Aug 1922 at St Andrew’s. Sarah was resident at Fitzwilliam Street and the
daughter of John Kelly, a car man. Philip was a motor driver living at 11 Lower
Pembroke Street. Philip died in Crumlin in 1941.
7 Julia Maher born 7 Nov 1901 at 3 Lad Lane. Julia was a shop-girl and died
29 Nov 1917 at Upper Coombe, her mother the informant.
