Col Anthony Lyster of Grange Roscommon married Anna Clennand. Anthony died in 1790 and
Anna died at Seapoint Avenue on 8 Jan 1842.
1 Brigid Harriet Lyster, eldest daughter born circa 1774 died 1864 age 90 a spinster at
Montpelier Place.
2 Anthony Lionel Lyster, eldest son born circa 1791at Grange, married Marcia Deborah Tate
circa 1825 (ML). Deborah was the daughter of James Tate of Ballintaggart and Maria
Stratford and she was also the granddaughter of the Earl of Aldborough. Anthony was a
clerk in the Post office and was Accountant General of the General Post Office by 1834. He
was church warden for Stillorgan in 1842 and 1846. Anthony died 5 Jan 1880 at Stillorgan
Cottage and was buried at the Lees vault in Monkstown. Deborah died 17 Jan 1893 aged 94
at Stillorgan Cottage. Memorial Plaque in St Brigid's Church, Stillorgan.
1 Emily Sophia Lyster, eldest daughter born circa 1826 at Stillorgan married George
Samuel Jenkinson in 1845. She was a accomplished musician and trained under the
Austrian composer Thalberg. Sir George, 11th Baronet of Eastwood Park, Conservative
MP died 19 Jan 1892 and left 90K in personal estate. His Napoleon Sèvres china and plate
was left in trust and a proviso of his will was that no Catholic would benefit from it.
Emily died 23 Feb 1892 aged 65 and was buried at St George's Falfield. Her memorial is
at St Brigid's Church, Stillorgan.
1 George Bank Jenkinson born 10 May 1851 of The Elms, Stone succeeded his father.
2 Robert Anthony Banks Jenkinson born 1860 died after his accidently discharged his
revolver in 1882.
3 Emily Frances Jenkinson was an accomplished journalist and died a spinster in 1898
at Pau.
4 Louisa Augusta Jenkinson youngest daughter converted to Catholicism in 1875 and
married Viscount Maidstone in 1876.
2 Harry Hammond Lyster born 24 Dec 1830 at Stillorgan married Caroline Matilda Davis
a widow, on 12 Dec 1865 in Bengal. Caroline died in 1895 at Berkshire aged 57.
Henry was with the 72nd Bengal Native Infantry and was awarded the Victoria Cross
for an Act of Bravery on 23 May 1858 for 'gallantly charging and breaking singly, a
skirmishing square of the retreating rebel army from Calpee and killing two or three sepoys
in the conflict'. Harry secondly married Ada Emily Cole in 1901. He became a general with
the 3rd Gurkhas. Harry died at 1 St Mark's Square Regents Park Road, London on
1 Feb 1922. His medals were sold by Spinks in London for 13.5K in 1988 and for 16K in
1990. His medals are now displayed on rotation at The Lord Ashcroft Gallery. His
memorial is in St Brigid's Church, Stillorgan.
3 William George Lyster, second son born 27 May 1834, baptised at Monkstown, Co Dublin.
William died a bachelor on 23 Feb 1913. He had been living at Reading in Berkshire.
4 Georgina Lyster second daughter born 29 Apr 1827 at Dove House on Newtown Avenue,
Seapoint. She was not thought to be as beautiful as her older sister, but she was intelligent,
witty and charming. She married Julius Alexander Sartoris on 12 Sep 1854. Georgina
lived at Stillorgan Cottage after the death of her husband in 1863.
1 Florence Caroline Matilde Sartoris eldest daughter born Feb 1856 at Tusmore House,
Oxfordshire, married Lieut Col Edmund Antrobus of the Grenadier Guards.
2 Constance Emily Sartoris, second daughter born 20 Jul 1857 married the Hon Claud
Hamilton Vivian.
3 Rosalie Louisa Sartoris, youngest daughter and famed beauty married Shipley
Gordon Stuart Erskine, 14th Earl of Buchan.
5 Louisa Charlotte Lyster baptised as Stillorgan Parish Church 18 Jun 1837 died an infant.
6 John Lionel Lyster, youngest son born 4 Jun 1839 at Stillorgan married Gertrude Agnes
Sullivan, daughter of Admiral Sir Francis Sullivan. Gertrude died in January 1893 and John
died 12 Dec 1908. His memorial is in St Brigid's Church, Stillorgan.

10 Sophie Lyster born 1790, the Grange, Co Roscommon married the Rev Harcourt Lees Rector
of Kilaly on 9 Nov 1812 at St Marks and lived at Blackrock House from circa 1811. Sir Harcourt
Lees died on 7 Mar 1852 aged 75 at Blackrock House and Lady Sophie died in August 1874.
1 Maria Sophia Lees eldest daughter born 25 Mar 1814 married John Meiklam on 29 Apr 1833
and died on 7 Aug 1895.
2 Daughter Lees born August 1815 at Blackrock.
3 John Lees eldest son born 31 Dec 1816 married Maria Charlotte Sullivan on 29 May 1839
at the British Embassy, Paris. He died on the Isle of Wight on 19 Jun 1892.
4 George Cholmondeley Lees second son born circa 1817 married Georgina Colclough.
He secondly married Antoinette De Gue on 2 Feb 1866 at Kingstown Presbyterian
Church. He died 15 Mar 1896.
5 Stillborn Lees November 1818 at Blackrock.
6 Thomas Ellis Bridgeman Lees third son born 14 Nov 1819 at Blackrock circa 1818. He
joined the HEICS and married Janet Edmeston Balfour in Edinburgh on 10 Mar 1857.
Janet was the widow of Captain Edward Stanley. Thomas died on 19 Sep 1865 in the
East Indies.
7 Sophia Lees third daughter born 24 Mar 1822 died a spinster on 13 Mar 1876 in London.
8 Helen Lees fourth daughter born circa 1824 died a spinster at St Leonard-on-sea on
22 Aug 1906.
9 William Nassau Lees born 21 Feb 1825 baptised at Monkstown, graduated Trinity in 1842.
He was proprietor of the The Times of India newspaper and died in March 1889.
11 Louisa Lyster born circa 1800 married Captain William Hammon and lived at Montpelier,
Blackrock.
