Stanislaus J Lynch, of Carrick-on-Suir married Helen Briscoe, only daughter of Edward Whitby
Briscoe, of Harristown, County Kilkenny at Templeorum on 20 Jul 1854. He was manager of
the Bank of Ireland, Carrick on Suir before taking a job at clerk for the office of the Landed
Estates Court and became a member of the Statistical Society. He was appointed Registrar
in 1871 and Land Commissioner in 1885. The couple were were very popular and attended
parties on a regular basis. Stanislaus died 17 Mar 1915 at 40 Elgin Road aged 83 leaving over
10K in personal estate and Helen died 14 Nov 1915 at Drumcondra hospital aged 84.
1 Marcella Lynch born 2 Jun 1855 at Carrick on Shannon died 2 Jan 1860 at Mulgrave
Tce, Kingstown.
2 Edward Whitby Lynch, eldest son born circa 1856 joined the army. He married
Georgina Mary Curtis, eldest daughter of William M Curtis on 10 Oct 1883 at St
Joseph’s, Glasthule, Kingstown. Captain Edward Lynch of the 5th Battalion,
Connaught Rangers died aged 40 at 73 Grove Park, Rathmines.
3 John Patrick Lynch, second son born 7 Dec 1858 at 32 Upper Leeson Street was
educated at Clongowed Wood and Trinity. A solicitor and practicing partner with
O’Keefe Lynch. He married Frieda Ottaman, daughter of the late William Ottmann
of New York, at The Oratory London on 7 Dec 1896, the couple lived at 1 Earlsfort
Tce before moving to Belfield, Stillorgan in 1901. The family were frequent
travellers to England, Europe and America. John was a member of the Royal Irish
Yacht Club and was Knighted in 1911. Sir John died 23 Aug 1920 and was buried
at Deansgrange.
On 25 Mar 1921 Frieda Gertrude Lynch married Frank Cyril Bernard at St Clement
Danes, Middlesex, and the marriage was registered in1922, however she travelled as
Frieda Lynch in 1922 to New York with her daughters Sybil and Maureen and her
grandson John Gowthorpe. Frieda continued to live at Belfield with her second
husband until 1933 when they sold Belfield House to UCD. They moved to
Gloucestershire. Frieda died in 1960 aged 82 and Frank died in1972 aged 85.
1 Sybil Henrietta Lynch born 9 May 1899 at 1 Earlsfort tce, married Royle William
Gowthorpe*, captain Royal Irish Regiment at the Church of the Sacred Heart,
Donnybrook on 30 Jul 1918 and moved to Gloucestershire.

2 Maureen Lynch born 14 May 1901 at Belfield married Robert Maguire of
Eglington Road, Donnybrook on 15 Sep 1930 at Holycross Church, Dundrum
and moved to Tanganyika where her husband worked for the Bristish Civil
Service. In 1961 they moved to Oxford, England and Robert lectured at the
university. Maureen died in 1965 and Robert died in 1972.
3 Olga Madelaine Maria born 7 Dec 1904 at Belfield was left behind in Ireland
and died late of 167a Strand Road, Sandymount in 1983. She may have been
in care. She is buried with her father at Deansgrange.
4 Henry Charles Lynch, third son born circa 1859 was a Barrister at Law and Registrar of
the Landed Court and a JP married Alice Mary Vaughan, eldest daughter of Hugh
Vaughan of 9 Ailesbury Road at the Sacred Church, Donnybrook on 28 Jan 1888.
Charles died in Donnybrook in 1948.
5 Helen M Lynch born 28 Mar 1861 at 32 Upper Leeson Street.
6 Marcella Lynch born circa 1862.
