Longworth of Seafort, Williamstown & Bellevue, Kilamcud Road.
Peter Longworth born circa 1847, son of Stephen Longworth and Jane Isabella Sprule , of
Bonahenly Co Westmeath. Peter attended Queens University and qualified as a doctor. He
married Elizabeth Anna (Bessie) Evans, only daughter of Rev Tyrell George Evans and Elizabeth
Mack at Concomohide Church, Croom in Co Limerick on 30 Aug 1873. His mother Jane was living
with them when she died in 1877. Peter was the dispensary doctor of Moate and was made
permanent medical officer of the district in 1872 on a salary of £120 PA. He was a member of
the Medical Association and died 6 Aug 1884 aged 37. Elizabeth Anna died 28 Jan 1911 aged
61 at 11 Belgrave Road and was buried with her parents in Mount Jerome.
1 Elizabeth Anna Longworth born 15 Jul 1874 at Moate was unmarried and a governess
in 1901.
2 Stephen George Longworth born 24 Jul 1876 at Moate. He attended boarding school in
Wandsworth in Battersea. He graduated from the RCSI and was licenced as a midwife in
1897. He was single and a Physician and Superintendent of the County Lunatic Asylum in
Meldon in Suffolk in 1901 and 1911. Stephen died 3 Feb 1913 at Suffolk and his brother
William was his executor.
3 Jane Isabella Longworth born 4 Feb 1878 at Moate married David Rice- Jones, a brewer
from Nottingham at St Mathias Church on 3 Apr 1907.
4 William Godfrey Evans Longworth born 9 Jul 1880 at Moate Co Westmeath. He attended
Wandsworth Boarding school in Battersea (possibly Sinjuns). He was a bank clerk living with
his widowed mother in 1901 and a border living in Dalkey in 1911. He joined the Royal Irish
Fusiliers in 1914. He was considered an expert in handwriting and was often called as an
expert witness. He married Bridget Catherine Glynn, youngest daughter of Walter Glynn of
Liverpool at St Deiniol’s Church, Criccieth, in Wales in September 1918. He was made a bank
manager in 1919 and they were living at Seafort in Williamstown in 1921. William was
working for the Royal Bank of Ireland and was superintendent of branches by 1924. They
lived at Bellevue on Kilmacud Road from 1936 to 1947 and then moved to Criccieth in Wales
where his parents were married and William died there on 2 Jun 1955. He left 3K in personal
estate probate was to his wife Bridget.
