William Lindsay born circa 1840 was the second son of James Lindsay, a merchant. He was a
draper and married Olivia Maria Carmichael on 18.10 1866 at St Paul's Arran Quay. Olivia was
the second daughter of James, Clerk of the Crown for the North Riding of the County of
Tipperary. Olivia died 20.02.1879 at 6 Garville Avenue.

2 Claire Lindsay born 09.10.1868 at Woodville Lodge, Sandford Road. Claire died
unmarried on 03.04.1923 at 30 India Street, Edinburgh.
3 Marion Carmichael Lindsay born 15.01.1870 at 128 Sandford Road and died of TB on
29.09.1872 aged 2½ years at Templeogue.
4 Helen Carmichael Lindsay born 27.09.1871 at Woodville Lodge, Sandford married Rev
James Snowdon son of William John Snowdon of 2 Idrone Terrace, Blackrock on
29.04.1902 at St Andrew’s Parish Church.
1 Mary Lindsay Snowdon born 28.02.1903 at 2 Ulster Terrace, Stillorgan.
2 Helen Snowdon born 11.10.1905 at The Manse, Mount Merrion Avenue.

6 James Carmichael Lindsay an insurance agent born circa 1874 was assistant secretary
to the Scottish Provident Institution. He lived at St Heliers until the death of his father
in 1904 when all his properties in Stillorgan, Rathgar, Raheny and Rathmines were put
up for sale. He died unmarried on 12.04.1919 aged 47 years at 30 India Street,
Edinburgh. Claire Lindsay, sister present at death. Olivia, Claire and Helen were
executrixes of his will.
7 Marion Lindsay born 03.03.1875 at 4 Carlton Terrace.
8 William Miles Lindsay born 07.10.1877 and died on 22.08.1878 aged 10 months at 6
Garville Avenue.
William secondly married Charlotte Alicia Davis on 16 Jun 1884 at Rathmichael Church. Charlotte
was the daughter of the late George Davis, a physician. She was living with the Erck family at
Sherrington, Shankill. William took a lease on the land in 1887 and built a house for his own
occupation. They lived at Saint Heliers from 1888 to 1896 and moved to 2 Ulster Terrace leaving
St Heliers for the use of his son John. William died on 25 May 1904 at 2 Ulster Terrace. Charlotte
a widow was living at Albert Road Kingstown in 1911 with her sister Mary. She died a widow at
Lisnacrieve Gordon Avenue Foxrock on 12 Apr 1936.
9 William Alexander Lindsay born 23.09.1885 at 35 Palmerston Road.
10 George Lindsay born 02.05.1887 at 35 Palmerston Road. In 1901 George aged 14 years
was a boarder at Wesley College on Stephens Green.
11 Thomas Whelan Lindsay born 11.09.1894 at St Helier’s and baptised at Stillorgan Parish
Church.
12 Kathleen Alicia Lindsay born 08.04.1896 at St Helier’s.
