William Lewis second son of Michael Lewis, an attorney of Dominic Street, and Anne Frizelle
born circa 1788. He graduated Trinity in 1805. He was called to the Irish bar in 1812 and
was attorney Exchequer. He married Dorothea (Dorah) Cassidy on 19 Aug 1812. Dorah
was the eldest daughter of the late John Cassidy of Monasterevan, Kildare. William was a
respected solicitor and land Agent. He acted as registrar to Judge Johnson. His offices
were at 4 Harcourt and his clients included the Earl of Aldborough and the Duke of
Portland. In 1841 he purchased a house and 13 acres from Thomas Leland in Roebuck for
L1500. He spent L1000 on additions and improvements to the property. William and
Dorah were generous benefactors of the Olivemount Institution, and provided both money
and food. William died at Harlech on 4 Oct 1850 and was buried at Mount Jerome. Dorah
died 23 Jan 1859 at Upper Merrion Street and was buried with her husband.
1 Mary Anne Lewis born circa 1813 only daughter married Robert Morellet Alloway of the
Derries, Queen’s County son of William Johnson Alloway on 19.06.1832 at St Peter’s Church,
Dublin. Mary Anne died on 02.11.1881 at Exmouth formerly of Wells, Somerset. Probate to
Michael Edward Lewis of Holles St. Dublin.
1 Grace Montgomerie Alloway only daughter born circa 1838 married John Saunders of
Graigavern, Ballybrittas, Queens County son of John Saunders on 28.11.1865 at 27
Holles Street in the Parish of St Peter, Dublin. John late 13th Hussars died on
08.01.1867 aged 25 years at Water Street, Pembroke Dock.

Grace married secondly Easton John Cox late 3rd Regiment son of William Hayward
Cox on 09.04.1870 at Eaton Bishop. Grace died 19.04.1879 at Clevedon.
Easton John Cox married Annie Georgiana Ferguson daughter of late T Ferguson of
Greenville, County Down on 16.01.1880 at St Michael’s, Chester Square. Lieut Col John
Easton late of the Buffs died 18.04.1906 of Port Isaac, Endellion, Cornwall. Probate to
John William Saunders.
2 Robert Marmaduke Alloway born circa 1840 married Isabella Margaret Clements only
daughter of late Theophilus Clements of Rathkenny, Cavan on 19.08.1869 at St
Peter’s Church, Dublin. Robert has inherited the Derries from his father. Isabella died
24.07.1876 of the Derries, Queen’s County. Robert married secondly Laura Georgina
Knight daughter of Rev Joseph Philip Knight on 24.07.1878 at the Parish Church,
Weston-super-Mare. Robert died on 07.12.1880 at Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Laura married
Otto Ernesta Haenni son of Johann Haenni on 16.04.1889 at the Parish Church of
Godalming, Surrey.of Godalming.

2 John Harvey Lewis eldest son born 19 Dec 1813 at Kilcullen Kildare. He was educated
at Trinity College BA and MA and called to the Bar in 1838. John married Emily Owen
Ball daughter of George Ball of Richmond Hill, Surrey on 27.08.1840. Emily died on
11.11.1850 and John married secondly Jane Isabella Brown daughter of William Brown
in 1855. John was a Deputy Lieutenant of Middlesex and Tower Hamlets and a JP for
Middlesex and Westminster and High Sheriff of Kildare in 1857. John died on
23.10.1888 at the Hotel Windsor in Monte Carlo.
3 William Lewis second son born 1818 was educated at Hazelwood, Warwickshire. He was
admitted Kinds Inns in 1835. He married Jane Louisa Hackett daughter of Michael
Hackett of Elm Grove, King’s County on 4 Sep 1845 at Parsonstown Church. They moved
into Harlech after the death of his father. Harlech was put up for sale in 1856 by his
father's executors. William died on 12.01.1878 aged 59 years at Haddington House,
Albert Road, Kingstown and was interred in the family vault at Mount Jerome. Jane died
in 1897 and was buried with her husband.
