Peter Alexander Leslie was a drug merchant/chemist of 40 Bride Street in Dublin. He was
a director of the National Assurance Company of Ireland and a member of the Ouzel Galley
Society. He was elected a life member of the Royal Dublin Society in 1815. They lived at
Woodley from 1809 to 1844, both Peter and his wife Sarah were buried at Stillorgan Parish
graveyard. In 1847 the contents of the house were put up for sale.

2 Jane Leslie born circa 1800 died 13.09.1820 aged 20 years buried at Stillorgan.
3 Charles Leslie JP born circa 1804 died a bachelor on 04.10.1879 aged 75 years at
Carraig-na-Greine, Dalkey. As the funeral cortege passed through Dalkey, the shops
shut and the Catholic Church rang out a solemn peal. He was buried in the family
vault at Stillorgan. Charles joined the family firm and took over the running of the
business after the death of his father. They were wholesale druggists at 36 Bride
Street and supplied medicines to the workhouse and dispensaries of various unions.
This work was tendered for and they frequently competed with Boileau and Boyd
who had their operation at 92 Bride Street.
4 Frances Leslie born circa 1804 died 13.05.1881 at her residence 25 Merrion Square
and was interred in the family vault at Stillorgan.
5 Sarah Leslie of Woodley born circa 1815 married Captain Goodricke Thomas Peacocke of Fort
Ædna, Limerick and Terrick Park, Buckinghamshire and was the eldest son of the late Thomas
G Peacocke. The couple were married on 15.08.1835 at St Brigid’s Church, Stillorgan by the Rev
William Eames, Rector of Clonfadforan. Goodricke attained the rank of Major and died on
19.04.1844 at Pembroke Street and his wife Sarah died on 08.08.1851 at Carraig-na-Greine,
Dalkey (now the Sue Ryder Centre). Thomas and Sarah are buried at Stillorgan parish graveyard.
1 Sarah Anne Peacocke born 06.06.1836 at Woodley died on 26.01.1837 at Woodley aged
8 months and was buried in the family vault at Stillorgan.
2 Goodricke Thomas Peacocke eldest son born 07.11.1837 at Upper Pembroke Street and
married Arabella Hardy only daughter of John P Hardy of Fitzwilliam Place on 15.03.1860
at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Arabella died on 20.03.1911 at 11 Castlewood Park aged 70
years. Goodricke died on 15.10.1920 aged 82 years. Both Arabella and Goodrick were
interred in the family vault in Stillorgan.
1 Catherine Wilhelmina Peacocke born 17.02.1861 at Fitzwilliam Place and died
06.03.1871 at 25 Merrion Square aged 10 years and was interred in the family
vault at Stillorgan.
2 Frances Sarah Peacocke born 10.07.1862 at Rock Cottage, Dalkey and died
13.01.1929 aged 66 years.
3 Goodricke Thomas Peacocke Lt Col OBE born 07.09.1865 at Carraig na Greine
died 17.01.1952 aged 86 years.
3 Captain Peter Leslie Peacocke 2nd son born 08.04.1839 married Ivaniona Tufnell born
circa 1845 eldest daughter of Jolliffe Tuffnell on 08.08.1865 at Dalkey Church.
(Florence the sister of Iva married Thomas Turbett of Owenstown). Peter carried
on the business of P A Leslie and Company after the death of uncle Charles Leslie.
Peter continued the running the business until 1904 when it was sold to Hunt & Co.,
which went bankrupt in 1908. Iva died at Villaggio, Dalkey on 24.12.1901 aged 55 years
and was interred in the Leslie family vault at Stillorgan. Peter died 22 May 1917 at
Bournemouth and was buried at Stillorgan.
1 Iva Mary Leslie Peacocke born circa 1867 died 22.07.1885 at Villagio, Dalkey
aged 18 years and was buried in the family vault at Stillorgan.
2 Leslie Tufnell Peacocke eldest son born 09.03.1868 in India married Beatrice
Isabel Lloyd eldest daughter of Clifford Lloyd of Victoria Castle on 30.04.1891
at Holy Trinity Church, Killiney. They divorced in 1897.

3 Norah Kathleen Bertha Peacocke born 11.07.1871 at Killiney married Robert
Gardner of Ashley, Clyde Road on 21.11.1895 at Dalkey Church.

months and was interred in the family vault at Stillorgan.

Dalkey married William Henry Martin son of John C Martin of Greenmount,
Castleshane, Monaghan on 03.04.1907 at St Patrick’s Church, Dalkey. Casaga
Martin died on 28.01.1921 at Greenmount aged 44 years.
4 Mary Williamina Peacocke, only daughter born March 1841 at Woodley married David
Trail Robertson of The Oaks Twickenham and 41 Onslow Gardens, London SW at
Dalkey Parish Church on 12 July 1882 and moved to live in London.
5 Charles Henry Peacocke of Belmont, Wexford born 29.04.1843 married Charlotte
Martha Henrietta Fannin daughter of the late Robert Fannin on 11.04.1866 at
Monkstown Church. Charles died circa May 1917 and is buried at St Brigid’s in
Stillorgan. Charlotte died on 19.09.1919 at Belmont, Wexford.

Arnoldine Georgiana (Ine) Marten daughter of Thomas Arnold Marten of

Flying Corps died 04.03.1918 aged 18 years the result of a Flying Accident.
Arnoldine secondly married Umfreville Percy Swinburne younger son of Sir John
Swinburne of Northumberland on 01.08.1905 in Durban, South Africa. Umfreville
Swinburne was chief inspector of mines for the Union of South Africa. Charles died
circa 07.11.1931 in London aged 62 years and Arnoldine died 07.10.1944 at
Newbury aged 71 years.
