Thomas Leonard born circa 1873 in Dublin son of Thomas Leonard a tradesman married Jane Keating at
St Joseph’s Church, Glasthule on 3 May 1891. Jane was the daughter of Thomas Keating and Sarah
Fleming of Miltown, Ashford. Thomas was living at Ballybrack working as a coachman and Jane was
working as a servant in Ballybrack at the time of their marriage. Thomas worked as a coachman from
1892 to 1902 and was a gardener at Glenabyn by 1905. By 1911 they had nine children all of whom had
survived and were living at Glenalbyn Lodge. Jane died 3 June 1931 at Glenalbyn and was buried at
Deansgrange. Thomas died at Our Lady’s Hospice, late of 3 Glenalbyn Terrace on 25 Sep 1942 and was
buried with his wife.
1 Thomas James Leonard born 16 Jul 1892 at Inchicore Lodge, Palmerstown was working as an
attendant at a private Asylum (possibly St John of God). He married Annie (Anna) Robinson
daughter of James Robinson Kilmacud Church 9 Jul 1916. Annie was a laundress and Thomas
was a motor driver/chauffeur. Thomas was a Rathdown Councillor and on the Board of Guardians
from 1925 to 1927.

2 William Leonard born 18 Jul 1893 at Rock Brae, Vevay Road, Bray was working as a general
labourer in 1911. William married Mary Browne, daughter of William Browne at Holy Cross Church
on 24 Sep 1922. Mary was a laundry worker resident at Goatstown and William was working as
an insurance agent.
1 Thomas J Leonard died 20 Dec 1924 aged 12 days at 2 Dublin Road.
3 Elizabeth Leonard born 11 Oct 1895 at Rock Brae, Bray was working a dressmaker’s apprentice in
1911. Elizabeth married Patrick Devitt, son of Patrick Devitt at Kilmacud Church on 6 Aug 1916.
Elizabeth was working as a dressmaker and Patrick was a clerk living at Booterstown at the time of
their marriage. Elizabeth died 19 Mar 1919 at 3 Glenalbyn Terrace.
4 Margaret Mary Leonard born 10 Jan 1898 at the Royal Hibernia School, Phoenix Park. Margaret
married John Kennedy, son of James Kennedy, conductor at Kilmacud Church on 20 Aug 1919. John
was a clerk living at Dalkey at the time of their marriage.

5 Kathleen (Dorothy) Leonard born 13 Feb 1900 at the Royal Hibernia School, Phoenix Park. Kathleen
married Michael O’Brien, son of Christopher O’Brien, gardener at Kilmacud Church on 26 Jul 1925.
Michael was an assistant living at Brighton Cottages, Foxrock and Mary was living at 3 Glenalbyn Tce
as the time of their marriage. Michael was a motor driver and died at Booterstown Avenue on
5 Oct 1939. Dorothy was a clerk and died at Oliver Plunkett Villas on 16 Jan 1966. She was buried at
Deansgrange.
6 Eileen Leonard born 6 Aug 1902 at the Royal Hibernia School, Phoenix Park. Eileen married
Christopher Fitzgibbon, son of John Fitzgibbon, pensioner if Guinness’s on 13 Jun 1926 at Kilmacud
Church. Christopher was a butcher living at Mount Brown at the time of their marriage. Eileen lived
at Oliver Plunkett Avenue, Dun Laoghaire in later life.
7 John Leonard born 29 Apr 1905 at Glenalbyn. John married Bridget Hurley, daughter of John Hurley,
gardener at Kilmacud Church on 6 Sep 1925. Bridget was living at Leopardstown Park and John was a
motorman at the time of their marriage. He had a grey Ford motor van registration Y17277. Bridget
died from TB at Lourdes Hospital, Kill O’Grange aged 23 on 13 Apr 1926 and was buried at
Deansgrange. John Joseph died from TB on 19 Apr 1929 at Glenalbyn and was buried with his wife.
8 Edward Paul Leonard born 2 Jun 1907 at Glenalbyn. Edward married Elizabeth Mary O’Rawe at John
the Baptist Church, Blackrock on 17 Jul 1933. The family lived at Monkstown Farm Edward was a bus
driver and was nominated for the Borough Elections in 1955.
9 Christopher Henry (Henry) Leonard born 26 Nov 1910 at Glenalbyn. Christopher married Helena Mary
Sheehan at Kilmacud Church on 9 Feb 1936.
