Louis Mortimer Lanyon of Belmont Ville, Dundrum
Charles Lanyon of Belfast and Eastbourne was an English architect born in Eastbourne
in 1813 son of John Jenkinson Lanyon and Catherine Anne Mortimer. Charles moved
to Dublin at the same time as Jacob Owen and in 1835 he married Jacob’s 4th
daughter Elizabeth Helen Owen. The family moved to Antrim in 1836 and remained
there until 1860. Charles lived at the Abbey, Whiteabbey, Antrim. Charles was
knighted in 1868.

daughter of Edward Hyde of Somerset on 28.10.1863 at Holy Trinity,
Brompton, Kensington. John died on 13.02.1900 at Orotava, Tenerife, Canary
Islands.
3 Charles Mortimer Lanyon 2nd son born circa 1840. Charles was a barrister
of the Middle Temple and died 27.02.1877 aged 36 years at 59 Tregunter
Road, Middlesex.
4 Sir William Owen Lanyon Lt Col born circa 1842 married Florence Levy
youngest daughter of Joseph Moses Levy of 51 Grosvenor Street on 02.08.1882
at St George’s Church, Hanover Square, London. William died 06.04.1887 in
New York.
5 Louis Mortimer Lanyon a District Inspector with the Royal Irish Constabulary
born 29.09.1846 married Laura Phillips daughter of late Charles Valentine
Phillips on 29.05.1879 at St Peter’s Church, Brighton. Louis was stationed at
Mallow in Cork. They lived at Belmont Villa, Dundrum from 1893 - 1899 and
then moved to Hove in Sussex. Louis died on 03.11.1900 aged 54 years at
34 Norton Road, Hove.

married Jeanie Jeffcock on 18.11.1915. He died 16.11.1965 aged 83 at
Poulton, Gloucestershire.

married Celia Louisa Ethel King daughter of Charles Arthur Cecil King
