Ambrose Lane Of Willmount, Co Tipperary and Gaulstown, Kilkenny son of Robert Lane
graduated Trinity College and took Holy orders. He married Juliana Fitzmaurice on
26 Jan 1831 at Edinburgh. Juliana was the daughter William Fitzmaurice and Alicia Scott.
He was curate of Castlecomer before accepting the curacy of St Thomas’, Pendleton,
Lancashire in April 1834. After the death of the incumbent, the parishioners petitioned
for Ambrose to be given the living. This, he accepted in October 1834 and where he
remained until his resignation in 1872. He was granted a pension of £120. They had a
lease on Dove House in Blackrock from 1867 to 1876. Ambrose Lane died on
1 Apr 1875 at Birkenhead, near Liverpool. Juliana died at Norman Road, Rusholme,
Manchester on 22 Sep 1893.

Armstrong at St Luke’s Church, New York on 23 Apr 1872. Frederick was the
son of Alexander Armstrong, CE and County surveyor for Cavan and his wife
Frances Bell. Alicia, eldest daughter died in New York in January 1874. Frederick
a widower living at Herkimer, New York in 1920.
4 Anne Sarah Lane born 22 Dec 1839 at Eccles, Lancs. As second daughter she
married Ashley Hibbard on 9 Feb 1864 at St Thomas’ Church, Pendleton. Ashley
was a JP of Montreal and late a Lieutenant Colonel in the 6 Battalion Active
Force, Canadian Militia. She moved to Canada after her marriage.
1 Gerald Fitzmaurice Hibbard born April 1859 in Canada took holy orders.
He married Julia Elfraida Musgrave Calcutt in 1893. Gerald inherited the
Commieston estate near Montrose on the death of his uncle William
Fitzmaurice Lane-Scott in 1925. He travelled to Scotland in 1928 to
inspect the estate.
5 William Fitzmaurice Lane only son born 1841 at Salford, Lancs. He was a bank
agent and lived at Norman Road before moving to Birch Polygon, Rushholme. He
changed his surname to Lane-Scott in 1900 and inherited an estate at Commieston,
near Montrose, Kincardineshire, Scotland. He was a magistrate and a member of
Manchester City Council. He died a bachelor on 20 Oct 1925 as the result a street
accident.
6 Juliana Lane, baptised 23 Jun 1844 at Eccles, Lancs. As third daughter she
married Frank Milne at Monkstown Church on 2 Jul 1867. Frank was the fourth
son of Edward Chippindall Milne, solicitor of Manchester. Juliana died 12 Dec 1882
at The Cottage, Barton-upon-Irwell.
1 Frank Alexander Milne, of Lincoln's Inn, barrister-at-law, eldest son of
the late Frank Milne of Hadley, Middlesex married Alice Emily Burn in 1891.
2 Julia Milne married Oliver Ormerod on 24 Jun 1891.
3 Frank Ambrose Milne, second son died 15 Jul 1874.
7 Mary Frances Lane, youngest daughter baptised 13 Jun 1847 at Eccles, Lancs.
She married George Chesworth Burgess at Monkstown Church on 4 Apr 1872.
George was a banker from Ormskirk and the son of George Chesworth Burgess
and his wife Ann. The family were living at 24 Derby Street, Ormskirk in 1881.
Mary & George were living at Bussage Near Stroud in 1911. George died
7 Jan 1921 at Applegarth, Stroud.
