Quintin Kennedy born circa 1798, son of the Rev Alexander Kennedy, Curate of Holy
Trinity Parish in Cork and Sarah O'Callaghan. Quintin was a shipping agent and broker
working with Eagle Line shipping and Gibbs, Bright & Company who offered passage
to Barbados, Trinidad and Australia out of Liverpool and Quintin frequently sailed on
these ships. The shipping lines would also take passengers free to Van Diemen's Land
if they had a Bounty Certificate from the Australian government and this passage was
arranged through Quintin who had offices at Old Georges Street, Cork. He married
Mary Player at Clifton in Gloucestershire on 5 Oct 1830. He was appointed agent for
Cork to the United Kingdom Life Insurance Company in 1834 with an office at 34 John
Street. He died at his home at 17 Wellington Road Cork on 18 Jan 1857 aged 55.
1 Joseph Gordon Leybourne Kennedy born 1834 baptised at Bristol on
3 Apr 1835. Joseph was dumb, nor could he read or write. He never married
and died at Glenageary Hall, the home of his brother Alexander, on
10 Apr 1906 aged 71.
2 Alexander Deaves Kennedy born 1836 was baptised at St Michael the
Archangel's church in Bristol on 6 Dec 1836. He was educated at Queens
University Cork where he obtained his degree, first place and a gold medal in
the faculty of Law & Jurisprudence. He was sworn Attorney in 1857 with offices
at Westmoreland Street and in the same year published an index to the General
Orders in Chancery. He married Matilda Going, fourth daughter of William
Going at Cahir Church on 16 Aug 1858. He was Dublin agent for the Universal
Life Assurance Society and to the Norwich Union Society and moved office to
College Green in 1861 before moving to 67 Upper Sackville Street in 1868. He
lobbied for changes to improve the law relating to bankruptcy in Ireland. The
family took a house in Stillorgan in 1863, this was Dunstaffnage near Stillorgan
Church, before moving to Shanganagh Terrace in 1866. He became Chairman
of the Irish Civic Service Building Society in 1884. Matilda died 14 Apr 1902 at
Glennageragh Hall and Alexander died same place on 12 Mar 1919.
1 Quintin William Kennedy born 4 Jun 1860 at No 3 Wellington Place,
Upper Leeson Street, was a solicitor and land agent. He married
Winifred Katherine Tait in 1896 at Poole in Dorset. He died at
Baggot Street Hospital on 17 Dec 1930.

2 Duncan Victor Kennedy born 21 Oct 1900 at Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
3 Gilbert Tait Kennedy born 9 Oct 1904 at 63 Lower Baggot Street.
2 Matilda Kennedy born 25 Oct 1861 at No 7 Mespil Parade went
to live with her brother William who had been widowed. She died
unmarried at Bournemouth in 1941.
3 Mary A Kennedy born on 3 Feb 1863 at Dunstaffnage, Stillorgan,
married William Proctor son of Robert Proctor of Clifton, Bristol
at Killiney on 6 Feb 1883. Robert was a manure manufacturer.
1 Gladys Aileen Proctor born circa 1884 living with her
grandfather Alexander Kennedy in 1911.
2 Ernest W K Proctor born circa 1888 at Bristol.
3 Leila M Proctor born circa 1890 at Bristol.
4 Alexander Cassilis Kennedy born 5 Feb 1864 at Dunstaffnage,
Stillorgan.
5 Edith Player Kennedy, third daughter born 15 May 1865 at
Dunstaffnage, Stillorgan married Ernest Proctor of Clifton Bristol,
son of Robert Proctor at Monkstown Church on 31 Dec 1890. Edith
died 28 Jan 1931 at Weston Super-Mare.
6 William Player Kennedy born 22 Dec 1866 at Shanganagh Terrace,
Ballybrack became a doctor. He worked In Liverpool and married Alice
Frances L'Estrange (Allie) Babington, daughter of William W Babington
of Cork and Dunluce Glenageary at St Paul's Church Glenageary on
7 Sep 1902. Alice died at Bath in 1911 leaving 3 small children.
William died at 3 Gay Street, Bath on 3 Feb 1934 leaving personal
estate of just under 12K.
