Robert was a Land agent and JP and partner in the firm of Shaw & Joy, Stockbrokers.
1 Grace Mary Joy born circa 1870 married Owen Thomas Lloyd Crossley, a clerk in
Holy Orders at Banbridge on 30 Jul 1896 and lived at Seacombe, Cheshire, England.
2 Son Joy born 5 Jan 1872 at Edenderry.
3 Robert Cecil Joy born 6 Nov 1874 at Wilson Lodge Craigavan, a solicitor living in
Mount Street in 1901. He worked for the firm of Messrs. Moore Keily & Lloyd before
taking up a position with the Bank of Ireland. He married in 1920 and moved to
England.
4 Katherine Isabella Joy born August 1877 immigrated to Canada in 1910.
5 William Bruce Rainey Joy (Bruce) born 11 Jul 1878 at Millmount, Banbridge
immigrated to Canada in 1910 returned to Ireland. He was on the board of the
Linen Hall Library and died at Belfast in 1946.
6 Dorothea Marie Rose Joy born circa 21 Jan 1880 at Millmount died 14 Oct 1912
at Grove House, Stillorgan.
7 Arthur Holmes Joy, fifth sonborn 25 Mar 1884 at Millmount, Banbridge. He attended
Tonbridge School as a day pupil from 1898 to 1900. He studied medicine at Queen's
College, Belfast and graduated in 1908. He worked at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast
from 1908-1909. He obtained a commission as acting surgeon in the Royal Navy and
served in WW1.
8 Henrietta Norah Margaret (Margery) Joy born 26 Jan 1887 married Lewis Fenton
Kenny of Ballsbridge, son of Stanhope William Fenton Kenny and Mary Lloyd at St
Brigid's Stillorgan on 6 Sep 1910. Lewis originally from Ballinrobe, Co Mayo was a
friend of Frederick Darley of Ferney in Stillorgan and was best man to him two years
previously. The couple lived at Anglesea Road in Ballsbridge. Lewis enlisted in the
Royal Dublin Fusiliers. A solicitor with premises at 31 Molesworth Street, Dublin,
Lewis died 7 May 1923.
9 George Noel Joy born 22 Dec 1881 at Banbridge became an accountant and
immigrated to Canada in 1910.
10 Conway Hume Joy born 21 May 1889 at Banbridge attended Well Hall Grammar School,
Church Brow, Clitheroe, Lancashiree. He became an engineer and immigrated to Canada
in 1910.
11 Frederick Charles Patrick Joy born 23 Jan 1895 at Millmount, Banbridge. Frederick was
educated. He joined the Royal Irish Rifles and was killed in action 16 Jun 1915 at Hooge
France. His name appears on the memorial at Trinity College. He was a Second
Lieutenant with the 3rd Battalion, attached to 2nd Battalion and was buried at Ypres
(Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium.
