Jolly family of Stillorgan Village
John Jolly, born circa 1797. As a widower and dairyman of Stillorgan and son of Robert Jolley he
married Sarah Persse (Pearce) of 13 James' Place daughter of Samuel Persse on 24 May 1852
at St Peters, Dublin. John Jolly died at his residence in Kilmacud, Stillorgan 7 Jul 1878, age 81.
He was buried at Stillorgan Graveyard. Informant Alicia Jolley. Sarah died 7 Jun 1887 at
Stillorgan aged 53 and was buried at Stillorgan, her daughter Sarah the informant. They lived
in the village in the house that was the old police station. He had a son Thomas from his
previous marriage who died aged 19 in 1852 and is buried at Stillorgan graveyard.
1 Margaret Mary (Maggie) Jolly of Brunswick Street married George J Fox on 1 Jul 1883 at
St Paul's Church, Arran Quay. George was a solicitor's clerk of Queen Street and the son
of Peter Fox, a railway official.
1 Adelaide Fox born 13 Jun 1884 at 25 Ellis Quay.
2 Alicia Jolly born 31 Jan 1864 at Kilmacud.
3 Sarah Jolly born circa 1865 was a dairy proprietor of Stillorgan. She died 30 Apr 1912 last
surviving daughter of John & Sarah Jolly and was buried at Stillorgan graveyard. Her
nephew Samuel Jolley the informant. Her cart had Stillorgan Diary painted on the rear
and S H Jolly on the shaft and she worked in the dairy for 41 years. She left just over 1K
in personal estate.
4 Daniel Jolly born 4 Feb 1866 at Kilmacud.
5 Mary Jane Jolley born 18 Jul 1868 at Stillorgan. A dairymaid she died 27 Jun 1890 age 21
at Kilmacud and was buried at St Brigid's Stillorgan. (Thomas Jolley the informant).
6 Julia Jolly born 8 Sep 1870 at Stillorgan, buried at Stillorgan graveyard 19 Jun 1871.
