Plunkett Family of Frescati
John Plunkett born circa 1778 married Mary Barrington circa 1801. In 1819 John established
a business of maltsters at Portland Street, Dublin. The company supplied all the large
breweries such as Guinness, Beamish & Crawford and the Phoenix Brewery. John died on
19 May 1830 and Mary died 3 Feb 1854 aged 74 and the business passed to their son Randal
Plunkett. John was buried in the vaults of Clarendon Street Church and Mary was buried at
Glasnevin.
1 Mary Anne Plunkett baptised at the Pro Cathedral on 12 Aug 1803 died 3 Nov 1878.
2 Randal Plunkett baptised at the Pro Cathedral on 24 Mar 1805 married Eliza Caroline
Byrne D’Arcy on 17 Aug 1840 at St Mary’s Pro Cathedral. Eliza was the daughter of
Patrick Byrne Darcy.
3 John Plunkett baptised 27 Jul 1806 at the Pro Cathedral married Jemima Steel youngest
and second daughter of Robert Steel of Hunters Street at the RC Chapel in Moorfields
and afterwards at Saint Pancras Church, London on 30 Aug 1842. John who was in
business with his mother trading as Mary Plunkett and sons was declared bankrupt in
1844. Jemima died aged 19 on 1 Mar 1844 at Frescati. John Plunkett secondly married
Eliza Anne Partington, eldest daughter of William Partington of Heaten House Herts at
Cheshunt 20 Apr 1853. Eliza's father died in 1885 and her husband John died 29 Nov 1866
and Eliza moved back to the family home Heaton House, Cheshunt and also had a
residence at 46 St George's Square. Her mother Charlotte died in 1874 aged 91 and her
sister Maria Barbara died in 1883. Eliza died at Frescati 23 Jul 1885.

2 John Hurst Plunkett born 21 Jul 1855 at Frescati joined the military. Lieut John
Plunkett, King's Dragoon Guards died aged 27 (eldest surviving son) at Marney
Manitoba on 29 May 1884.
3 Gerald Plunkett born September 1856 at Frescati.
4 Charles Frederick Plunkett born 17 Sep 1857 at Frescati took Holy orders and
died (second surviving son) aged 33 on 22 Jul 1891 at Heaten House, Cheshunt,
Herts.
5 Randal William Nixon Plunkett born 11 Sep 1858 at Frescati was resident at Heaton
House at Cheshunt when he married Harriet Bessie Petit, daughter of the late Major
Paul Jean Baptist Petit of Canterbury at All Saint's Stoke Newington on 24 Oct 1898.
6 Loftus Henry Plunkett, youngest son born circa 1863 at Frescati. Loftus, a maltster
died a bachelor aged 31 on 9 Mar 1894 at 57 Cork Street, Dublin.
4 Richard Plunkett born circa 1818 fl 1842.
5 Emily Plunkett, second daughter baptised 16 Aug 1808 at the Pro Cathedral married
Dionysius (Denis) O'Connor of Clonshee, Co Longford in March 1840.
6 Anna Plunkett, third daughter married Robert Travers 31 May 1832 at St Andrew's Church.
7 Matilda Plunkett, youngest daughter married James Stobart, 3rd son of John Stobart of Ashford,
Middlesex on 29 Jul 1842 at Portland Street.
