Daniel Corey Jennings son of Charles Jennings of Newry, Co Down married Johanna Maria
Bray at Thurles on 11 Feb 1846. Johanna was the daughter of the late Luke Bray of
Galbertstown and Ballycarrane. Daniel, a retired RIC inspector died at 18 Morehampton
Road on 15 Nov 1896 and was buried at Glasnevin. Johanna died at 23 Waterloo Place on
14 Mar 1908 and was buried at Glasnevin.
1 Charles Boromeo Jennings born circa 1846 baptised 11 Nov 1846 at Thurles. He
attended the Tramore School in Waterford, the Catholic University of Ireland. He
was a licentiate of Royal College of Surgeons in 1867 and Royal College of
Physicians in 1868. He joined the Army Medical Department in 1868 and initially
send overseas. He was appointed to Arbour Hill Station Hospital in 1875. He was
a doctor resident at 6 Holles Street and married widow Anastasia Mary Agnes
Caldbeck on 8 Jan 1877 at Monkstown Roman Catholic Church. Anastasia was the
daughter of Samuel Hugo of Guernsey and the widow of William Caldbeck and
was resident at St Anne’s, Monkstown. Charles was posted to South Africa in 1878.
Charles retired from the Army in 1896 on half pay. They lived at Netley on South
Hill Avenue from 1895 and later at Ashurst on Mount Merrion Avenue. Charles
was an councillor of Blackrock Urban Council and on the Rathdown Board of
Guardians from 1900 to 1904. The family were living at Bexhill in 1906 and in
Putney by 1910. Charles died 30 May 1926 at Fernleigh, The Hill, Monkstown, his
daughter Violet of Surbiton the informant. He was buried at Deansgrange.
Anastasia died on 6 May 1928 at the Southampton Hotel Surbiton in Surrey late of
Dawn, Cranes Park, Surbiton.
1 Ernest Charles Jennings born 1 Oct 1877 at 32 Merrion Square South, Dublin a
medical student living with his parents in 1901. He married Elsie D Moreland in
1912 and was living at Brosna Church Road, Bracknell in 1939. He later lived at
Fishwick House, Teigngrace and died in a car accident on 13 Mar 1943.
2 Violet Eva Jennings elder daughter born 31 Aug 1880 at Wynberg South Africa. She
married Leonard Hacking on 1 Nov 1902 at St Mary’s Chapel, Holyhead. Leonard
of Clondalkin was the third son of Joshua Hackney of Clayton-on-Moors and they
lived at Surbiton. Leonard died 12 Apr 1936 and Violet secondly married Major F A
Bowring on 21 Nov 1938 at The Church of the Assumption, London. Violet died
7 Feb 1962 in London and left 101K in personal estate.
3 Kathleen Mary Ellen Jennings born circa 1885 in Dublin City married Henry
Lindemore on 2 Jun 1910 at Our Lady of Pity & St Simon Stock Church in Putney.
Henry of Park Lane was the third son of Lewis Lindemore and worked at the
Stock Exchange. Kathleen died 27 Mar 1912 and was buried at Putney Vale.
4 Percy Geoffrey Hatton Joseph Jennings born 4 Dec 1886 at Chakrata, Bengal, India.
2 Son Jennings born 15 Jul 1849 at Thurles.
3 Ignatius Roynane Bray Jennings born 31 Jul 1850 at Tuam Galway was a RIC Inspector.
He married Henrietta Elizabeth Blake in Thomastown on 22 April 1884. Henrietta was
from Co Kilkenny and the daughter of James Blake, a barrister. By 1911 they had 11
children of whom 10 survived. Ignatius had retired by 1911 and they were living at
Eccles Street. Ignatius died on 20 Jun 1928. Henrietta died at Blackrock on 20 Feb 1940.
4 Ellen Sophie Marie (Ellie) Jennings eldest daughter born circa 1852 died at 6 Castle
Avenue, Clontarf on 4 Aug 1878 and was buried at Glasnevin.
5 Daniel Jennings born 11 May 1853 at Tuam, Galway married Ellen (Ellie) O’Sullivan at
Tralee, Co Kerry on 18 Apr 1881. Daniel worked at the National Bank at Kanturk as
an accountant and Ellie was daughter of the late Mortimer O’Sullivan. He was
appointed manager at the Castleisland Branch in 1899. Daniel died in 1915.
6 Son Jennings born August 1854 at Tuam, Galway.
7 John Bray Jennings youngest son born circa 1855 studied medicine and became a
surgeon and worked in Hull. He died a bachelor on 7 May 1881 at Castle Avenue,
Clontarf and was buried at Glasnevin.
8 Sophia Mary Jennings born circa 1857 in Co Waterford married Arthur French Clanchy.
Arthur was a bank cashier and later bank manager. The couple had five children and
were living at Gorey, Co Wexford in 1911. Sophia died in 1947.
9 Kate Jennings born circa 1866 in Co Waterford informant at her father’s death living
at Waterloo Place in 1901 and 1911. She died a spinster at the Hospice, Harold's
Cross on 15 Nov 1942 late of Buswell's Hotel .
10 Mary Jennings born circa 1867 in Co Waterford living at Waterloo Place in 1901 and
1911.
