David Inglis a gardener
1 John Inglis born circa 1848 in Edinburgh, Scotland son of David Inglis a gardener.
He was a gardener at Rosemount Booterstown and married Rose Quigley at St
Thomas’ Church of Ireland Church, Dublin on 1 Sep 1871. Rose was resident at
Santry and the daughter of Matthew Quigley, a labourer. They lived at Rosemount,
Booterstown from 1871 to 1873. John returned to Edinburgh and Rose remained
in Ireland until after the birth of Roseanna and then followed John to Scotland.
They were living at Newtown Street, Dunse, Berwickshire in 1881, 25 Maxwell
Street, Edinburgh in 1891 Scotland. John was still working as a gardener and they
were living at Orwell Place, Edinburgh in 1911; eight of their eleven children had
survived.

apprentice in 1891 and a cabinet maker living with his parents in 1911.
3 Anna Agnes (Annie) Inglis born 10 Aug 1874 at Santry a dressmaker’s
apprentice in 1891.
4 Roseanna (Elizabeth) Ingles born 9 May 1879 at Santry living with her
parents in 1911.
5 Jane Alice Inglis born 2 Jun 1881 Duns, Berwickshire Scotland.
6 Janet Inglis born circa 1883 in Scotland was a photographer’s assistant
and later a photo printer, living with her parents in 1911. Janet died a
spinster on 13 Jan 1951 at Orwell Place.
7 Rose Inglis born circa 1885 in Scotland was a shop assistant in a baker
living with her parents in 1911. She died a spinster on 21 Oct 1935 at
Orwell Place.
8 John Inglis born circa 1888 in Scotland was a cabinet maker living with his
parents in 1911.
9 Agnes Inglis born circa 1890 in Scotland was a machinist at a tailoring firm
living with her parents in 1911.
