Edward Hudson born circa 1814, eldest son of Edward and Marianne Hudson of Loughbrickland
County Down and Gardiner’s Place Dublin. When he was four his father died from typhus fever.
He married Emily Eleanor Grattan, youngest daughter of the Rev William Grattan of Syloan Park,
Co Meath and Swanlinbar, Co Cavan. He attended Trinity and practiced as a solicitor from 1839.
He was an alderman of Dublin from 1856 to 1865. They lived at 55 Pembroke Street for a
number of years and in 1884 Edward allowed the house to be used for a production of a comic
opera called Les Amourettes, two of his daughters took part in the opera. He was the law agent to
the Dublin Exhibition Palace and Winter Garden Company in 1862. He had an office at Gardiner
Street before moving to Dawson Street and finally to Kildare Street. He lived at Trentham from
1880 until his death. Emily died 30 Aug 1894 at Trentham and Edward died at Trentham on
30 Sep 1896 aged 82 and was buried at Mount Jerome. He left personal estate of 5K.
His mother Marianne died at his house in Gardiner Street of bronchitis on 11 Jan 1867. His older
sister Letitia married Philip E Brabazon FRCSI on 7 Mar 1844 and died at Trentham on 23 Jun 1900.
His brother Humphrey was an Asst Surgeon in the Bombay Army and died at Bombay on
27 May 1845.

4 Edward Hudson born 22 Oct 1859 at 3 Gardiner Place baptised at St Georges.
5 Emily Violet Hudson born 26 Oct 1861 at 28 Gardiner place baptised at St Georges played
the harp. She married Richard Hassard 30 Apr 1889 at St Bartholemew’s Church.
6 Adela Louise Hudson born 2 Feb 1863 at Gardiners Place baptised at St Georges. She played
the Harmonium and married William Edwards Whitford at St Pancras London in 1904.
7 William Herbert (Herbert) Hudson born 2 July 1865 born at 28 Gardiners Place baptised at St
Georges. Admitted solicitor to the Supreme Court in 1887 and practiced from 15 Kildare
Street until 1901.
