Joseph Hines married Elizabeth Bayly
1 Valentine Hines first son born circa 1799 was an attorney. He married Anna
Maria Lloyd on 8 Jun 1821 at St George's. Dublin. Anna was the eldest
daughter of William Lloyd of Great Britain Street. Valentine died 5 Jul 1859 at
27 Belgrave Road, Rathmines. Anna Maria died at 25 Belgrave Road on
7 Nov 1885 aged 93 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Joseph Bryan Hines eldest son born circa 1824 eldest admitted Kings Inns.
He was a solicitor of 195 Great Brunswick Street. He was involved in a
fracas with fellow solicitor John Knight Boswell in 1835 and was taken to
court. He had to give a public apology and pay costs before he was
discharged. He lived at Dunstaffnagh Stillorgan from 1844 to 1847 and
by 1850 was living at The Grove, Killiney. He was involved in a property
development with his brother in law George Clarke at Killiney where they
built two properties, The Grove and Merton Lodge. Joseph got into financial
difficulty and the courts assigned the properties to John O' Connor, a
shopkeeper of Grand Parade, Cork in May 1852 to clear a debt. In June
1852 Joseph conveyed the properties to George Clarke of Esker House,
Lucan. These properties were subsequently sold by the courts in 1855 to
pay off the debts. Joseph married Rebecca Jones at Drumcondra Church
on 23 Feb 1852. Rebecca was the widow of Thomas Pratt and the second
daughter of Alexander William Colhoun of Cross, Co Armagh. Joseph
Bryan died 26 Apr 1864 at 3 Seaview Terrace, Donnybrook aged 40.
Rebecca moved to Fonthill Abbey Rathfarnham and was living in Dalkey in
1901. She died at Donnybrook on 7 Apr 1906 aged 82.
1 Joseph Cox Hines born 29 Nov 1852 baptised at St George’s. He was
a surgeon working in Burwash, Sussex in 1897 and a bachelor living
with his mother in Dalkey in 1901. He died at Kent in 1930.
2 Alexander Hamilton Hines second son born 9 Jul 1855 at
Rathmines. He married Annette Constance Lynott on 5 Jun 1877 at
St Peter’s Church Dublin. Annette was the youngest daughter of
the late Bernard Lynott, solicitor of Foxrock House, Stillorgan.
Alexander was initially and bank clerk and later a stock broker.
Annette died 27 Mar 1878, just three days after the birth of her
daughter and was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Rebecca Annette Constance (Raby) Hines born 24 Mar 1878 at
38 Cullenswood Avenue. Raby was a lady superintendent and
died a spinster 22 June 1924 at Upper Pembroke Street late of
13 Fitzwilliam Street.
Alexander secondly married Jessie Catherine Bolton on 20 Nov 1879
at Stillorgan Parish Church. Jessie was resident at Nyanza, Glenart
Avenue and the daughter of Col Robert Henry Bolton. They were
living at Glencairn, Dalkey from 1910 to 1913. Jessie died 11 Nov 1926
at 26 Upper Mount Street. Alexander died 16 Nov 1932 at 5 Knapton
Terrace, Dalkey.
2 Henry Alexander Edward Hines born 5 Mar 1881 at 27
Palmerstown Road and died same place 4 Apr 1881. Buried at
Mount Jerome.
3 Henry Alexander Hines born 11 Mar 1882 at 27 Palmerstown Road
died in 1884 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
4 Catherine Beatrice (Kathleen) Hines born 22 Nov 1883 at
Palmerstown Road. She married Guy Bellwood Moore on
7 Oct 1904 at St Ann’s Church, Dublin. Guy was living at 3 Eden
Park, Kingstown and was the son of Geoffrey Moore.
5 Alexander Henry Hines born 5 Mar 1881 at 27 Palmerstown Road
a bank clerk living with his parents in 1911. He married Eileen
Margaret Andrews at SS Phillip and James, Booterstown on
5 Apr 1913. Eileen was the daughter of Edward H Andrews, JP of
Orton, Monkstown.

7 Thomas Edward Hines born 18 Apr 1888 at Palmerstown Road died
same place 25 Apr 1888.
8 Mabel Hilda Hines born 8 May 1889 at St Kevin’s Park, Rathmines
living with her parents in 1911.
9 Eileen Nora Hines born circa 1890 living with her parents in 1911.
10 Henry Hamilton Hines died 15 Aug 1895 at Tudor House, Dalkey
aged 2½ and was buried at Mount Jerome.
3 George John Hines youngest son born circa 1863 was a licentiate of the
Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He married Annie Louisa Ada
Beattie on 19 Jan 1892 at St Barnabas, South Kennington. Ada was the
daughter of Joseph Hamilton Beattie of St Osyth, Essex. George died
9 Apr 1898 at Stanfield House, Lenham, Kent. His body was repatriated
and he was buried at Mount Jerome. Ada was a widow living with her
mother in law in 1901 at Dalkey.
1 Cyril Patrick Hines born 3 Oct 1892 in England living with his
mother and grandmother in Dalkey in 1901.
2 Elizabeth (Bessie) Hines born circa 1833 married Patrick Slevin 16 Mar 1852 at
Drumcondra Church. Patrick was a surgeon in the Royal Navy and the son of
Patrick Slevin. He served on the Daring and the Pelorus and died 4 Jul 1870 aged
55. Elizabeth died 15 Aug 1878 aged 45. Both were buried at Mount Jerome.

Church Rathmines on 2 Apr 1868. Sophia was the only child of Robert John Swift
of Grosvenor Terrace, Rathmines. George a clerk in the Bank of Ireland died on
9 Sep 1870 and was buried at Mount Jerome.

2 Joseph Hines, third son educated in Sligo born circa 1805 admitted Kings Inns.
