John Hendrick, merchant of Ormond Quay married Ann Ward at St Mary on 10 Feb 1753
(ML 6 Feb 1753). John was a tobacco merchant of 9 Ormond Quay and a supporter of Finlay's
Bank. He subscribed 20L to a fund along with Theo Wolfe (50L) and Hon Tom Connolly (113L) to
help the people of the West Indies after the hurricane of 1780 where it is thought that 20K
people died. John kept a large brown and white spaniel.
1 John Hendrick bap St Marys 10 Nov 1753 married Elizabeth Clarke of Youghal on 5 Jan 1775
(ML 8 Dec 1774). After the death of his father, John put the half seat they had in the
gallery of St Marys up for sale along with land at Great Strand Street near Capel Street.
From 1783 to 1785 the house he was living at in Kilmacud was up for sale. The house
was on 45 acres and had laid out gardens, a walled garden and orchard with servants
quarters and a large haggard. He was a merchant with premises at 9 Lower Ormond Quay.
He was on the board for the improvement of Dublin Harbour from 1786 -1794 and on the
Wide Street Commission in 1799. He was a member of Ouzel Galley. Elizabeth died in
March 1815 and John died on 1 Nov 1820 aged 73 at Jervis Street.

John died circa 1781 and Ann, widow of John Hendrick of Ormond Quay married Thomas Wolfe* of
Blackhall, Co Meath on 5 Jan 1782.
*Charles Hendrick woollen draper of High Street married Mary Wolfe, daughter of Thomas Wolfe of
Black Hall, County of Kildare. An agreeable lady with a large fortune in Nov 1758.
*Theobald Wolfe Tone son of Peter & Margaret Tone was baptised on 2 Jun 1763 at St Mary’s Dublin.
Peter Tone, was a coach-maker who had a farm near Sallins, County Kildare Ireland.
