Hall family of Burton Hall, Stillorgan
John Hall and his family lived at Burton hall from 1821 to 1853. John was a merchant and had offices at
129 Baggot Street and later at 3 Lower Mount Street. He died circa 1840.
1 John Hall eldest son born circa 1812 was called to the bar in 1840. He married Thomasina Jane
Brabazon, eldest daughter of Rev James Brabazon, Rector of Almaritia, in the diocese of Meath
and his wife Elizabeth Levinge on 16 Feb 1855 at Almaritia. Thomasina was the granddaughter
of Richard Hugh Levinge of of Levington Park, Westmeath. John died 25 Aug 1878 aged 64 at
Moyvannon Castle, Athlone, Co Roscommon late of Carnaclough, Dolphin’s Barn and left 5k in
personal estate. Charles Hall, his brother and his sister Catherine Hall were granted probate.
He left his house and premises at Dolphin’s Barn and his estate in Tipperary (400 acres) to
Catherine & Charles in trust for his son John (Will dated 1869). The family moved to Byron House
in Sutton after the death of John and Thomasina’s mother died there in 1885. Thomasina died at
Sloperton Lodge, Kingstown on 8 Apr 1933 aged 101.

at Sloperton Lodge om 21 Jan 1919 aged 60.
3 Francis Anthony Hall born circa 1860 died a bachelor on 29 May 1955 at Sloperton Lodge,
Dun Laoghaire.
4 Catherine Clare Hall born circa 1862 died a spinster on 21 Feb 1957 at Sloperton Lodge,
Dun Laoghaire.
5 Henrietta Hester Hall baptised at St James’ on 5 Jul 1865 died a spinster at Sutton Lodge
aged 20 on 4 Apr 1886.
6 Sydney Whelimena Hall born 7 Aug 1866 at Carnaclough House, Crumlin Road died a
spinster 15 Sep 1919 at Sloperton Lodge, Kingstown.
7 Richard Brabazon Hall born 9 Dec 1867 at Carnalough House, Crumlin Road died a
bachelor in Belgrave square Monkstown on 12 Feb 1948.
8 Son Hall born 9 Mar 1869 at Carnaclough House, Crumlin Road, Dublin.
9 Avice Violet Hall born circa 1871 in Galway died a spinster on 16 May 1953 at the Royal
Victoria Hospital, late of Sloperton Lodge aged 82.
10 Thomasina Grace Hall born 4 Mar 1872 Co Galway died a spinster in 1914 at the Elphis
Hospital, late of St Brendan’s, Booterstown.
2 Catherine Hall born circa 1813 died 31 Oct 1885 at Monaboy, Co Westmeath and left 10K. She left
her property to her brother Charles and legacies to each of her nieces and nephews and also
bequests to her servants.
3 Charles Hall born circa 1815 married Twisleton Jane Crampton on 28 Mar 1854 at St Anne’s
Church, Dublin. Charles was resident at Ballinacor, Co Westmeath and the Shelbourne Hotel at the
time of his marriage. Twisleton was the daughter of Josiah Crampton, Captain HM Service of
Cahilmorris, Co Galway and his wife Anne Saunders. Tristleton was living at 3 Kildare Place. Charles
owned 900 acres at Ballinacoe, Moyvore, Co Westmeath and was a lay delegates to the Diocesan
Synod in 1869. The family were keen hunters and Charles broke his collarbone after a fall in 1880.
Twisleton Jane died 18 Jan 1883 at Ballinacor aged 64 and was buried at Ballymore graveyard, Co
Westmeath. Charles died 21 Dec 1896 at Ballinacor, Westmeath left 8K in personal estate. His
daughter Catherine Cecelia Hall the informant and he was buried with his wife.
1 Daughter stillborn on 19 Feb 1856 at Ballinacor.
2 George Crampton Hall born 3 Apr 1858 at Ballinacor enlisted and served with the 3rd
Battalion of the North Staffordshires. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was
awarded the Queens medal after operations in the Cape Colont.in 1902. He married Annie
Elizabeth Francis Barlow on the 27 June 1903 at Almoritia Church. Annie was the daughter
of John Barlow of Bushy Park, Co Roscommon. George died 4 Sep 1915 at his home in
Ballinacor and was buried at Ballymore graveyard, Co Westmeath. He left personal estate of
7K. Annie died 17 Apr 1925 at Lunestown and was buried with her husband.

4 Joseph Hall, 3rd son born circa 1817 died 26 Jun 1844 aged 27 at Burton Hall.
