Gresson family of Glencairn House
Reverend George Leslie Gresson, born circa 1769 was the son of William Gresson and Margaret
Leslie. He graduated from Trinity and married Clarissa Reynell in 1798. He was Rector of
Ardnorcher. His brother Skelton Gresson born circa 1780 graduated Trinity college and took Holy
orders and was a JP for Clara, Kings County where an attempt was made on his life in 1841, he died
in 1843.
1 William Reynell Gresson born circa 1799 took Holy orders and was Rector of Burrisnafarney,
County Tipperary.
1 Susan Frances Gresson, only daughter born 6 Dec 1826 at Clonea Glebe, Co Clare,
died September 1838 at Larch Vale, Kings County.
2 George Reynell Gresson, eldest son born October 1828 at Larchfield joined the 27th
Inniskillings married Isabella Stuart daughter of Alexander Stuart at Dungannon on
5 Sep 1854.
3 William Henry Gresson attained the rank of major with the 65th Regiment and married
Mary Fleming the eldest daughter of Thomas Tinning of Tinwald House, Dunfriesshire
on 9 Aug 1866 a Castle Milk, Dunfriesshire.
2 George Gresson born circa 1803, solicitor of 30 upper Merrion Street and Church warden of
St Peters in 1846. He died late of Glencairn at 10 South Frederick Street on 3 Nov 1876.

5 Henry Barnes Gresson born 31 Jan 1809 in Co Meath was a barrister of 26 Gardiner's Place
married Ann Beatty, daughter of Andrew Beatty of Derry on 14 Aug 1845 in Convoy Church.
The family immigrated to New Zealand in 1854 and Henry was appointed Crown Prosecutor in
1857 for the South Island. Ann died 11 Jun 1889 at Wood and Henry died 31 Jan 1901 and
was buried with his wife at St Barnabus Church in Christchurch.
1 Nina Henrietta Gresson born circa 1847 died 1918.
2 John Gresson born circa 1848 married 1875 died in a1891.

7 Richard Gresson born 1813.
8 Robert Christmas Gresson fifth son, born circa 1817 was a solicitor of 72 Aungier Street. He
married Elizabeth Hopper daughter of Edward Hopper, Beddenden on 2 May 1853 at St
Botolph's, Aldgate, London.
9 Eleanor Gresson born circa 1819.
10 Skelton Gresson born graduated Trinity college and took Holy orders.
Rev George Leslie Gresson secondly married Mary Anne Turpin in 1826. George died 29 Dec 1842 at
Ardnorcher House, near Kilneggan and Mary Anne died 13 Sep 1844 at Dalkey.

Merrion Square at St Peter's Church Dublin on 20 Sep 1853.
