Alexander Wilmot born circa 1830 son of George Wilmot married Sarah Moore, daughter of John
Moore married 18 Oct 1847 at Glenealy Church on 18 Oct 1847. He was a labourer and a porter
and died at 21 Pimlico on 28 Jan 1888 aged 58. Sarah died at Kells, the home of her daughter
Sarah on 7 Dec 1914 aged 80.
1 Sarah Wilmot 1888 married James Barlow Hodgins, son of John Hodgins at Ardbraccan
Parish church on 27 Dec 1888. Sarah died at Faughan Hill, Kells.
2 Margaret Wilmot, second daughter born circa 1859 married James Grant, a skipper and the
son of Thomas Grant, a land steward at St James’ Church on 29 Mar 1875. James worked as
a labourer and died late of 21 Pimlico at the Adelaide Hospital on 26 Dec 1883.
1 Elizabeth Jane Grant born 1 Feb 1876 at 10 Kenny Cottages was baptised at St James’
on 19 Mar 1876 married James Burgess Thomson, son of James Thomson, a
compositor on 6 Jun 1987 at St James’ Church.
2 Sarah Anne Grant born 6 Aug 1877 baptised 7 Oct 1872 at St James’ married Henry
Brown of 31 Pimlico and son of Thomas Brown, a farmer. They lived at 62 Thomas’
Court.
3 Deborah Alice Grant born 2 May 1879 at Kenny’s Cottages off James’ Street and was
baptised at St James’ on 3 Aug 1879. She worked as a domestic servant for the
Powells of Bellosquardo from 1901 and moved with them to Kilmurray Grove in
Kilmacanogue in 1909 as did the housekeeper Eleanor Chapman. Deborah entered
local horticultural shows winning awards for her butter and cakes. She died unmarried
aged 71 at Kilmurray Grove, Quill Road, Kilmacanogue, Co Wicklow on 30 Dec 1950 and
was buried at Delgany graveyard.
4 Margaret Maud Grant born 19 Mar 1881 at 2 Bellview Buildings was baptised on
22 May 1881 at St James’ Church. She married Frederick Stewart, a postman from
Donadea, Co Kildare and son of Richard Stewart, a farmer on 20 Apr 1904.
5 Thomas Grant born 27 Feb 1883 at 21 Pimlico baptised 27 Jun 1883 at St James’ Church
and died 22 Sep 1884 at 21 Pimlico.
6 Thomas Grant born 23 Dec 1884 baptised 1 Feb 1885 at St James’ Church. He went to
work for Guinness’s when he was 14 and worked in the engineering department and
was a machinery overseer. He married Mary Ann and died on 13 Nov 1931.
Margaret Grant nee Wilmot secondly married William Tait on the 13 Aug 1888 at the Dublin
Register office on 13 Aug 1888 a few days after the birth of their first child. William was born
in Cootehill, Co Cavan the son of Robert Tait, a farmer and worked as a labourer and brewery
drayman. Margaret died at 13 Thirlestane Street off Thomas Street on 12 Mar 1933 and was
buried at Mount Jerome and her daughter Sarah Grant was the informant. William died
29 Dec 1935 at Thirlestane Street and his son Robert was the informant.
7 Robert Tait born 9 Aug 1888 at 47 Reginald Street baptised 17 Sep 1888 at St
Catherine’s Church was a pipe layer.
8 Jane Tait born 1891 at 12 Pimlico cottages was baptised at St Catherine’s Church in 1891
married Robert James Maude, son of Henry Maud on 14 Jun 1916 at St Catherine’s
Church.
9 William Tait born 21 Apr 1894 baptised 16 Aug 1895 at St Catherine’s Church. He started
work at Guinness when he was 14 as a lab assistant and retired 8 Feb 1919.
