Henry Goodfellow born circa 1807 son of Captain Henry Goodfellow of Tower House, Bullock
and his wife Thomasina Voysey. Henry married Diana Love on 30 Jun 1835 at St Mark’s.
Henry was a shipwright, master mariner, broker and marine stores proprietor of City Quay.
Dianah died at Wentworth Place on 13 Jan 1876 aged 63 and was buried at St Mark’s. Henry
died at 17 Wentworth Place on 8 Aug 1882 and was buried at St Mark’s.

2 Andrew William Goodfellow born 2 April 1839 baptised at St Mark’s. He was a
shipwright of 25 Wentworth Place and married Margaret Miller at St Anne’s on
8 Feb 1893. Margaret was the daughter of Henry Miller of Dolphin’s Barn. They had
no children.
3 John Stewart Goodfellow 23 September 1841 baptised at St Mark’s in Dublin was a
builder and contractor with premises at 17 Wentworth Place. He was the contactor
and builder for the fitout for the first horse show under the auspices of RDS in 1868.
This included 400 stables at Kildare Street. He was the contactor for the next 20 years.
He was also the contractor to the building of the Science and Art Museum in Kildare
Street in 1880. He was a JP and died a bachelor at 2 Morehampton Road on
5 Apr 1909 aged 65 and left 12K in personal estate. He was buried at Mount Jerome.
4 Charles George Goodfellow 10 February 1846 baptised at St Mark’s fl 1909. He was a
plumber and married Jane Seabrook. Jane died in 1907 and George died in 1916,
both at 26 Charleville Avenue.
1 Dinah Goodfellow born 1 Sep 1874 at 38 Erne Street was a dressmaker in 1901.
2 Charles George Goodfellow born 27 July 1876 at Erne Street was a plumber. He
died a bachelor at 24 Richmond Place on 28 Mar 1902.

6 Elizabeth Thomasine Goodfellow 24 Sep 1843 baptised at St Marks. She married John
Browne, a mariner of 5 Great Clarence Street and Whitehaven on 6 Nov 1864 at St
Mark’s.
7 George Robert Goodfellow born 7 May 1848 baptised at St Mark’s in Dublin. He was
a civil engineer of Lucerne, Donnybrook. He married Susan Nicholson on 30 Apr 1890
at Holy Trinity Church, Southport. George registered a patent for a self-closing gate
mechanism in 1900 and he also patented a turnstile. Susan was the second daughter
of Richard Nicholson of Whinfield, Southport, Lancs. Her father was a partner in Richard
Nicholson and Company, Merchants and shipowners of Liverpool. When her father died
in 1907 he left 85K and Susan inherited part of his estate. They lived at 4 Morehampton
Road and George was a JP and was the owner and builder of many houses on Novara
Avenue, Bray and Morehampton Road in Donnybrook. He also owned the Brewery in
Stillorgan and in 1909 was approached by the Rathdown Council to sell a strip of land to
make the corner of Brewery Road less dangerous, but he refused their offer, and it was
1922 before a deal with council went through. George died 23 Jan 1925 and was buried at
Mount Jerome. Susan died 11 Dec 1931 aged 70 at 4 Morehampton Road and left 207K
in personal estate. This was inherited by her daughter.
1 Hannah (Kathleen) Goodfellow only child born 20 Aug 1891 at 4 Morehampton
Road was baptised at St Mark’s. She was educated at Alexandra College and
graduated with a degree in Astronomy from Trinity College, Dublin. She was
independently wealthy having inherited her mother’s wealth and she also owned
a row of houses in Donnybrook, and houses in Bray which her father had built.
She was a poet and writer who published under the pseudonym Michael Scot. She
was a prominent member of Cumann na mBan having joined with her friend and
artist Estella Solomons. She was an activist during the Easter Rising. Her portrait
by Solomons was exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1920. When her
friend Estella married James Sullivan Starkey (aka Seamus O’Sullivan) she
helped both financially and with content to his publication The Dublin Magazine.
She was a generous woman and supported a number of charities and was also
on the Board of Governors of the Royal Hospital in Donnybrook. Before her death
she donated a piece of ground at Donnybrook to An Taisce. This site is known as
the Morehampton Road Wildlife Sanctuary. Kathleen never married and was
buried with her parents in Mount Jerome.
