Duke Giffard of Castlejordan married Marie Arabella Maddock circa 1781. Duke died on 28.12.1801 in
Castle Jordan.
Lady Mary Arabella Giffard married John Petty Fitzmaurice 2nd Marquis of Lansdowne son of William
Fitzmaurice 1st Marquess in Mount Street, Hanover Square, London in 1805. John died on 15.11.1809
and she became the Dowager Marchioness of Landsdowne. Maria Arabella died on 24.04.1833 at her
residence Wycombe Cottage.
1 Anne Giffard eldest daughter co-heiress of late Duke Gifford married William Gerald Bagat of
Castle Bagat, Dublin circa 01.08.1810 at the home of Marchioness Dowager of Landsdowne.
2 Louisa Giffard born circa 1790 died on 06.05.1879 aged 89 years at her residence 5 Clarges
Street, Picadilly.
3 Marie Giffard married Frederick William Lewis Augustus Count de Lusi late Prussian Envoy
Extraordinary to the Court of Greece thus becoming the Countess Marie de Lusi. Count de Lusi,
a personal friend of the King of Prussia died on 16.12.1847 aged 56 years at Hotel de
Commerce, Leicester Street, London. The Dowager Countess Maria died on 28.01.1875.
1 Ernest Frederick Charles Spiridione, Count de Lusi a widower of 10 Herbert Place
married Jane Downey Nesbitt daughter of John Downing Nesbitt on 19.04.1860 at
St Peter’s Church. Jane died on 03.09.1875 at Leixlip.
2 Countess Maria Amora Arabella de Lusi married Henry Concannon QC eldest son
of Edmund John Concanon of Waterloo, Galway on 25.11.1854 at St Thomas’s
Church. Henry died 16.05.1869 and Maria died on 21.03.1890 at her residence
22 Upper Mount Street.
3 Henrietta de Lusi 2nd daughter married John Butler Green a Widower the Resident
Magistrate of Clonakilty, Cork son of Benjamin Greene on 27.04.1864 at St Stephen’s
Church. Henrietta died on 06.01.1900 at 3 Percy Place, Dublin.
4 Countess Elise de Lusi born circa 1830 in Germany and died unmarried on
16.09.1919 aged 90 years at 22 Upper Mount Street.
5 Countess Adelaide Johanna Katharina de Lusi 1833-1903 married Archibald Smith
Wardlaw son of John Wardlaw on 15.04.1864 at St Thomas’s. Adelaide died on
22.02.1903 aged 68 yearsat 29 Percy Place.
6 Countess Julia Anna Maria Georgina de Lusi married Rev John Plunkett Joly of
Rathangan son of Rev Henry Edward Joly on 04.06.1853 at St Peter’s Church. John
late of Hollywood, Kings County died on 27.02.1858 at Kingstown. Julia then married
John Charles Mahon of Cullenmoor on 24.12.1870 at St Peter’s Church. John died on
03.08.1885 aged 51 years and Julia died on 20.12.1886 aged 59 years both at 43
Pembroke Road.
4 Harriet Giffard one of the co-heiresses of late Sir Duke Gifford and Marchioness of
Landsdowne married Lieut Colonel Mellish of Hodsack Priory, Nottingham on 08.09.1812 at
St George’s, Hanover Square, London. Harriet died on 17.08.1864 aged 76 years at her
residence Addison Lodge.
5 Eliza Giffard youngest daughter married John Armit on 08.08.1822 at St Peter’s Church,
Dublin. John died on 01.06.1836 at Dieppe, Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France.
Eliza the youngest daughter and one of the co-heiresses of late Sir Duke Gifford then married
Christopher Hamilton youngest son of Francis Hamilton of Dublin on 03.01.1838 at St
George’s, Hanover Square. Christopher died on 15.10.1854 at Millmount, Edenderry. Eliza
died on 05.12.1864 at 3 Leeson Park, Dublin.
1 John Henry Armit born 01.09.1833 (possibly Merrion Square) joined as Ensign 6th
Foot on 21st Sept 1852 aged 19 years 1 month by Purchase and Pensioned Ensign
24th Foot on 10th Dec 1862 formerly of 38 Rathmines Road died on 04.09.1862 aged
29 years at 62 Lower Mount Street. Will proved by Eliza Hamilton (Widow) of 38
Rathmines Road was the sole Executrix.
2 Maria Arabella Armit of 47 Leeson Street married Jaspar Robert Joly son of Henry
Edward Joly on 09.02.1849 at St Peter’s Church and afterwards at the residence of the
bride’s mother Mrs Hamilton of Leeson Street. Witness Christopher Hamilton.
3 William Duke Giffard Armit born circa 1824 married Agnes Armit Edington Millar
eldest daughter of late George Millar, banker of Kirkaldy on 22.09.1846 at East
Wemyss, Scotland. William appears to have had a disagreement in 1854 with his
stepfather Christopher Hamilton.
